P1b weekly update

This week primary 1b were learning about the World of work  we explored different job roles through play and discussed the skills each job requires.

Writing had them creating instructions for cleaning their teeth. They began by drawing pictures to demonstrate the actions and followed this by writing a sentence to explain what to do. Everyone should now have lovely clean teeth. We also read ‘Finns Little Fibb’ and identified the beginning, middle and end of the story.

We continued to learn about our emotions and were able to assign colours to a variety of emotions such as yellow for happy, blue for sad and green for jealous. We used the story Elmer, about a patchwork elephant, as inspiration and used some of the colours we discussed to create our own animals and jungle picture.

A fantastic week of learning in p1b 💫💫

P1b

P1b have been learning about halves in maths and put this knowledge into practice when they were cutting their Jeely pieces.

To celebrate the 850th birthday of Glasgow, the children sang along to the Jeely Piece Song after making a Jeely sandwich. Some children even made a fantastic effort to dress up for the occasion.

P1b weekly update

This week p1b have enjoyed learning about people in the past. We explored how technology has changed over the decades through our role play Museum.
We learned about the importance of bugs and the positive impact they have in their natural habitats. We also enjoyed learning about fractions and can confidently identify  halves.

P1b weekly update

P1b enjoyed their last week at school before the Easter holidays. We were busy learning about number words and recapped grouping and sharing using concrete materials to help. We also created wanted posters for the Easter bunny who has stolen all of our eggs!! We used fantastic adjectives to describe the Easter bunny and we hope to find him soon with all of our eggs not eaten!

We have had a fantastic term in P1b. I hope you all enjoy a lovely, well deserved break and look forward to our final term together.

We’re going on a bear hunt

Last week p1b listened to the story We’re going on a bear hunt.

We went on our very own bear hunt around the school grounds. The children loved retelling the story in real life. This inspired our writing and art for the week. Check out our fantastic story maps.
