Summary of Learning
This term, we will be developing our Literacy skills through our topic which focuses on Afghanistan and Scotland. As a context for our topic, we will read the novel, ‘The Breadwinner’ which is set in Afghanistan and follows the life of Parvana, a child of war. This term we will continue to develop our writing skills through the imaginative and biographical genres.
In Maths we are focussng initially on developing our ‘Time’ skills, and will later work on fractions, decimals and percentages.
As a class we are doing lots of reading in the classroom and will continue to enjoy a reading café on Fridays. This is where we share and discuss the books we are reading with our friends in P6b. We encourage children to read for enjoyment as much as possible and would welcome your support with this at home.
We will also be continuing to build our numeracy skills through the four operations. We practise our times tables regularly in class and would encourage over-learning these at home.
Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please remember to remove jewelry and bring a full change of kit.
Homework is issued on a Monday and is due on Thursday.
Learning Journeys will go home on Thursday to be returned on Friday. We encourage you to write comments on your child’s learning journey to engage with their weekly learning.
