Summary of Learning

In Term 2, Primary 3b are continuing  to develop their reading comprehension strategies through oxford reading tree books and class novels. We will also continue to develop our cursive handwriting skills and will work on imaginative writing. We will also use a range of spelling activities to practice our spelling words each week and, for some of us, continue to work on reading our common words.

In maths we are learning to recognise and count a variety of coins and notes;  exploring shape, position and movement and learning about place value. We will use this knowledge of place value to help us to  solve more tricky addition calculations.

Our topic this term is the novel “The Owl who was afraid of the dark” by Jill Tomlinson. We will be reading the novel and looking at different reading strategies through  the novel. Linked to our novel, we will also look at food chains and night and day in Science.

In expressive arts we will be exploring line and colour in art and learning bonfire songs in music.
