Respect, Learning, Kindness, Friendship, Trust

Welcome to P4b With Mrs MacMillan

Summary of Learning

In Term 2 our topic is Chocolate!  We will be reading Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as a context for our learning. We will learn how chocolate is made and we will be carrying out experiments involving chocolate. We will follow and create recipes – making some healthy and delicious chocolate based snacks. We hope to visit the Science Centre and we are looking at the opportunity to visit a chocolate factory.

In language we are focussing on reading to improve fluency, expression and understanding. This term we will be focusing on questioning. We will be covering instructional writing and we will write our own recipes. We are also enjoying weekly class reading cafes where we have the chance to read and discuss books whilst having some juice and a biscuit!

In Maths, we are learning to add three-digit numbers together using lots of different taught strategies. We are also learning different strategies to multiply numbers. We will be learning about measure too – focusing on length and volume and linking this learning directly with our topic.

All children – remember to practise times tables regularly. We have currently learned the 1,2,5 & 10 times tables.
