Welcome to P4M With Mrs MacKay

Summary of Learning – Term 2

In Term 2 our topic is Chocolate with a focus on the fantastic novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We will be looking at the effects of poverty in society and the difference between needs and wants throughout all times in life – relating this directly to the Bucket family from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will also explore the process of making chocolate and we may even get the chance to melt and taste different kinds of chocolate too!

In Literacy we are focussing on reading to improve fluency, expression and understanding. We will look at using decoding strategies to help with reading independently. Throughout the term we will also be learning about different types of questions based on our class novel. In writing we will focus on instructional writing. We will write our own set of instructions for creating a decoration and for how to make chocolate.

In Maths we are learning to multiply numbers. We will be learning lots of different strategies to help us with solving multiplication calculations. We will be learning about money too and focusing on adding amounts and giving change.

All children – remember to practise times tables regularly. We are currently learning the 2,5 & 10 times tables.
