Summary of Learning
In Term 3, Primary 3/2 will be looking at the features of non-fictions texts. We will also continue to develop our cursive handwriting skills and will work on non-fiction report writing. We will also use a range of spelling activities to practice our spelling words each week and, for some of us, continue to work on reading our common words.
In maths we will work on telling the time to quarter to and quarter past the hour. We will begin to measure by estimating and by using standardised methods. We will also continue to work on our number work during addition and subtraction activities including carrying and exchange for some of us. We will work on doing this in a number of ways.
Our topic this term is the science topic, “The Human Body”. During this topic, we will explore the different parts that make up our bodies and find out what they do to help us.
We will also be spending a lot of time working with the other P3 classes to create an assembly to celebrate Chinese New Year – you will not want to miss it!
Our P.E. days for this term are on a Tuesday and Friday. P2 children will also have dance on Mondays.
P3/2 will have outdoor learning on Thursdays. Please make sure your child has sensible shoes and a warm jacket on these days.
Homework is issued on a Monday and should be returned to school on a Friday. Please remember to sign and return learning journeys on a Friday too.
Dates to Remember – Trips/Assemblies
Chinese New Year assembly – Thursday 6th February.
Inservice dates -Friday 7th February and Wednesday 12th February.

Achievements and Celebrations
Children will be rewarded with certificates for going above and beyond the school values and for setting a good example to others. These children will get the chance to go to “hot chocolate Friday” as a treat!
During this term we will be developing our Spanish skills. We will be learning about Spanish culture by finding out how Carnival is celebrated in Spain. We will continue to learn new vocabulary including describing the weather in Spanish, classroom commands and praising language.
