Friday May 29th

Good morning P6 and happy Friday!

The weather is absolutely glorious your main task today is to get outside! Go to your local park, your garden if you have one or a walk around your local area.

Your work-

Chantel sent me some great stuff this week including this grammar work. Excellent Chantel!

Hubaib and Hamza were successful is logging into Microsoft Teams, well done boys!

Ahmed sent me a video response to yesterday’s space task. He is teaching you some new science facts. Check it out:

This video has inspired your task for today.

Send me a video of something you have learned or enjoyed doing while you’ve been at home. You could share facts like Ahmed, show off some dance moves, a recipe you made to celebrate Eid last week or some of your favourite books you’ve read. Anything that you want to share with the class show and tell style!

Email me them and I’ll share them with everyone else on the blog

Good morning P6.

Science- Space

Did any of you try to watch the Nasa Space X Launch last night? Unfortunately it could not go ahead and has now be rearranged to Saturday.

Not sure what I’m talking about? Check it out, it’s really cool!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52830196

Before the launch on Saturday goes ahead, can you do some research and tell me:

What is so special about this space launch?

Who are the astronauts that are heading to the ISS? Where are they from?

Who owns Space X? How was it paid for? (looking at you Hamza, I think you’ll be very impressed by this research!)

Can you find any other exciting space events that are happening this year?

Maths- Time

Here are a couple of worksheets to practise your knowledge of time. It has been a little while since we have looked at Converting Time and Reading Timetables, so please let me know if you have any questions about this

Make sure you get out and enjoy the sunshine as it has been glorious this week!

I think I’ll head out to Pollok Park this afternoon as I live so close.

Remember today is your last change to send me anything you want to show off on the blog tomorrow. I am available over WhatsApp or you can email me

Wednesday May 27th

Good morning P6.

Your task for today is a literacy recommendation.

Lots of you have been asking for ideas of books to read and suggestions from me. While you all know what books I loved when I was your age, some of you are (rightfully) arguing that that was a long time ago and there are loads of more modern, amazing books and authors out there that I have not read!

I would like you to find your favourite book. If this is already in your house great, if it is at school or you do not own a copy then you can use the internet to get photos of the cover and research the plot if you need to help you memory.

You are going to recommend this to a friend!

Take a photo/draw a picture/design a cover on your iPad of this book. This will allow readers to find it.

On the other side of your paper write a short summary of the plot and why you recommend this to your classmates. The more exciting you make your writing, the more appealing the book will be to others!

email or message me your book recommendations and I will do my best to find them online for others. Lots of libraries have online books available for you to download and read on your iPad so hopefully your recommendation is available.

I’ll then post all of your suggestions on the blog on Friday for your friends to enjoy!

Have fun with this task!

Tuesday May 26th

Good morning P6.

Hope you are all well and had a lovely long weekend. For those of you celebrating Eid I hope you had a great time and ate lots of delicious food.

Here are some small tasks for you to do today

Maths- Sumdog

Remember to be accessing your Sumdog account as much as possible while you are at home. Think of it as your mental maths slot that we usually have for 30 minutes every school day. Spending that time on it will really help with your arithmetic skills.

Literacy- Writing

I’d like you to take a photo of something in your house. This can be a small object or part of something larger. Then using your imagination I’d like you to turn this object into something else.

For example, has your kitchen whisk become a removable third arm? Or maybe your shampoo bottle actually contains an anti-aging potion?

You can explain how this works, what its used for and if other people should consider getting one of these objects in their home. Have fun with it!

ICT- Microsoft Teams

You all have your glow email address (if you need me to send it to you again let me know and I will pass it on to you).

Can you please download the Microsoft Teams app from the Self Service Centre on your iPad- this is a bit like the App Store!

Once you are into Microsoft Teams you should be a part of Team p6 automatically. If this works for you you should be able to send me messages.

Can you try to do this today and let me know if there are any problems? We want to try and get this app up and running so we can use it to all chat together and use it for online teaching.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Missing you all like crazy!

Thursday May 21st

Good morning P6.

Hope you are all well and getting excited for your upcoming celebrations of Eid this weekend.

Your task for today was inspired by this video that Miss Bhatti created

IMG_3706

it is all about her and her family are preparing for Eid. If you are celebrating I would like you to share how you and your family prepare and celebrate. This can be displayed in the form of a poem, animation, PowerPoint presentation or anything else that you can think of!
I think it would be amazing to see how different families cook together, decorate and have fun.

if you don’t celebrate then you can create something that shows a celebration that is important to you. Do you have any Christmas traditions you would like to share? Is there anything particular your family does on your birthday?

As always, send me anything you want to be shared either via email or WhatsApp.

Sharing work- Safa

Safa sent me some excellent examples of her maths this week. Well done Safa!

And Ahmed and I have been discussing some great ideas he has for home learning. Watch this space!

Friday and Monday are holidays so there will be no blog posts until next Tuesday. Use these few days to spend time outside exploring and with your family.
Although there is no blog post I am always available if you need me.

Have a lovely long weekend, stay safe and have fun!

Wednesday May 20th

Good morning P6.

here are some tasks for you today.

Maths- division with remainders.

These questions all have remainders in the answer so watch out for that!

if you are attempting the long division sheet you may want to lay your questions out in the grid method. You can use a calculator to check your answers and let me know if you are having any problems with this, it has been a long while since we practised it!

Literacy- Grammar

Here are a couple of grammar questions for you to try. You may want to read the question over a couple of times to make sure you definitely know what you are being asked to do. It’s all about which terms goes correctly within the sentence.

I have already received some amazing work from some of you this week, I will be sure to share them on the blog tomorrow. Keep them coming!

Friday May 15th

Good morning P6 and happy Friday!

here are a couple of different challenges for you today.

Geography

some of you have been asking for different types of work and I think that is a great idea! Here is some work about the different continents- practise this and you’ll be amazing at our table trivia when we go back to school!

There are questions and challenges for you to try. Email or WhatsApp me your results and any other suggestions of things you’re curious and want to know more about!

science- night and day

another thing one of you has been asking about is the Earths rotation around the sun and how that creates day and nighttime. It’s a really good question, especially now we are heading into summer and the days are so much longer!

cooking- as you know I am loving cooking right now, and so is Miss Cohen! She has created a video teaching you how to make soup. Remember the magic of cooking soup is that you can really use any vegetable that is otherwise going to waste. Have a go!

I have received some amazing work this week from Chantel who has been working hard on her maths. Well done Chantel!

If you have anything you’d like me to see be sure to send it over and I will share it with the class!

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Webster πŸ™‚

Thursday May 14th

Good morning P6.
Here are some tasks for today

Maths-multiplication

here is a different crossword for you to try. It is still focussing in the skill of multiplication but these questions are trickier, you may need a calculator to confirm your answers before you put them into the grid.

Modern studies- our topic this term is looking at the Coronavirus within the news and how different political systems are tackling it.

Here are some links to articles and videos for you to look at which are about what Scotland and England are doing about Covid-19.

i would like you to make a Venn diagram displaying how the different countries are handling in the situation in similar and different ways. Remember the part of the diagram where the circles overlap is where the similarities go and the parts that are separate are for the differences.

literacy

Mr Corrigan is going live on the St Alberts infant YouTube channel between 2.30 and 3pm today!
He will be reading a story and chatting along with anyone who is online. If you are available at this time today please check it out!
