Art in the Windows

Children’s photography exhibition a resounding success!

The winning photographs in the Art in the Windows project have been  unveiled to the public in Cupar.

Pupils from the four primary and secondary schools in Cupar worked with a professional photographer on the ‘Art in the Windows’ project for two months, photographing themselves getting active around the town to inspire Cupar residents to get moving.

The CLD Standards Council’s national CPD Framework i-develop: learning for CLD was launched on the 24th April.

 

 

Strategic Guidance for Community Learning and Development (CLD) – Launch planned

Education Scotland has reported to the Scottish Government on the outcomes of the national discussion on the new strategic guidance for CLD.The guidance will be published on the Engage for Education website in June.  It is expected to address strategic issues raised during the discussion and to have clear links to the legislative framework for post 16 education, community empowerment and Community Planning.

 

Northern Lights is a film about Scotland made by you!

As part of the Year Of Creative Scotland 2012 we are asking members of the public to collaborate with us in the creation of a unique feature-length documentary film.

We want you to take out your cameras and record your own personal videos about Scotland’s past, present and future.

Project submissions are open from 20 March to 21 June 2012 and you can submit as many video contributions as you like.

We will then gather together all this footage and edit it into a unique, first in a lifetime, vision of Scotland in the Year 2012

NMS – Methilhill Primary and Community School

Early Years and Primary School pupils from three Local authority areas have been working with National Museums Scotland in an innovative project to create new resources to be used at other schools.

On 2 February 2012 the National Museums of Scotland Community Engagement team ran an open day at Methilhill Primary and Community School; giving pupils an opportunity to show off their work to other pupils in the school, their parents and wider families.

‘Museum2Go’has resulted in four new loans boxes and a mobile discovery dome, to be unveiled for the first time together at the National Museum of Scotland’s Learning Centre on Friday 18 May.  There will be an exhibition designed by the pupils, films where the pupils explain what the project has meant to them and a performance piece developed in partnership with YDance and Chief Sulemen Chebe
From giant creepy-crawlies to eye make-up pots covered in goats’ skin, rain sticks to a whole cheetah skin, pupils picked their topics and objects, inspired by the new National Museum of Scotland galleries which opened in July 2011.

Glow e-portfolio solution – success in Fife

On Friday 23 March representatives from Glenrothes High School presented at an Education Scotland conference on Learner Voice at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. Three S1 pupils, accompanied by Mr Hunter, Depute Headteacher, were asked to highlight the good practice within the school in relation to the development of e-portfolios.

Historic Scotland- Glenrothes Town Art Competition

Historic Scotland and Fife Council are sponsoring a photography competition to help celebrate the wonderful modern sculpture which brings the New Town of Glenrothes in Fife to life.
The closing date for this competition which was 30th April has now been extended for another week .  All entries should be sent to Historic Scotland by May 7th 2012.
There are two categories – 8 to 15 years and over 16 – so don’t hesitate to give it a try. There are prizes to be won and best of all, winners and top submissions will be included in a photography exhibition to be held at the Rothes Halls this summer.
