Congratulations to our achievers for the month of October. They were awarded their certificates at the school assembly last Friday,
Apologies for the poor quality of the photo!
Sgoil a’ Bhac had four teams in the recent Sports Festival Uni-Hoc Competition, an event that saw 42 teams from schools across Lewis and Harris go head-to-head over three weeks of matches. Two of our teams, the ‘Back Guardians’ and ‘Back Attack’ won through to last night’s finals. After an evening of close competition, Back Guardians finished third overall and Back Attack were ninth, an excellent achievement.
Well done to all the children in our four teams who took part and thank you to the parents who transported pupils and came along to support them.

At our assembly today, we awarded certificates to our September achievers. Very well done to all of them. Certificates were awarded for good reading, hard work, being a good friend, always helping others, improvement in maths and language and speaking good Gaelic.
Our special achievers for February received their certificates at a celebration assembly today. These certificates have been awarded for good work, behaviour, effort and attitude throughout the month of February. Our swimming team who took part in this week’s Inter-Schools Swimming Gala also received certificates for the excellent behaviour and attitude in representing the school at this event.
Congratulations and well done to all our certificate winners.
G6/7 pupils planned, promoted and ran the Book Fair as an enterprise with Business School, a curriculum-linked project. The pupils loved having the opportunity to take ownership. Running it as a Business School allowed the pupils to apply for jobs, make CVs and attend interviews. They practised creative and entrepreneurial skills and learned about the world of work.
The sales total was £758.15 and from this the school has received £379.08 to buy new books. G6/7 pupils would like to thank everyone who helped make the bookfair a very successful event.
Pupils from Sgoil a’ Bhac have been competing throughout this winter in the Lewis and Harris Cross Country Winter Series. The third and final race in this competition was held on Saturday 7th February and our school was well represented in the field of runners. We’d like to give special mention to Steven Mutch from P6 who was the winner on Saturday and overall series winner in the Under 11 boys.
Thank you to Mandy Gillies for providing the photo and for organising the school team for this race. Thanks also to the staff who helped the runners prepare for the Winter Series with training runs during the school day.
