The winner of last month’s Famous Moment in Lego was Marc Harrison in S3 who correctly identified the Christmas Day truce between the British and German soldiers during World War One in 1914.
The January Moment in Lego competition is now up and running so look out for the posters in Social Subjects rooms, in the corridors and on the website. Good luck!
The Backpack Appeal is running again this year but with a surprising twist! All those that hand in a full backpack will be entered into a free prize draw to win a £50 VOUCHER TO SPEND AT SILVERBURN!
All you need to fill a backpack is the following items:

Small ball eg. Tennis ball

Toothpaste

Please do not add food etc. as the bags will be checked thoroughly by customs.
Bags are to be handed into Miss Fusaro in Maths, Room F11.
Congratulations to all pupils in S1 and S2 who took part in the National Poetry Day competition. Pupils were asked to write poems on the theme of Games. In S1, first place went to Emma Marcuson, second to Nikki Barnett and third to Calum Russell.
S2 pupils Bethany Nesbitt, Perle Picard and Luke Butterfield came first, second and third respectively. All the winners will receive points for their houses and book tokens. Alice Carter, Olivia Bell and Ruairidh Morrison also receive house points for their excellent entries. Very well done indeed! The winning poems will be displayed in the English department and on the school website.

The event was held at the University of The West of Scotland. The team performed extremely well against another eighteen teams only being narrowly beaten by The High School of Glasgow. Well Done!
