An expert group has been brought together by the Education Secretary, Angela Constance, to look at how enthusiasm for and participation in maths can be increased. Junior Maths Team Challenge
Congratulations to the following boys who came third in the Junior Maths Team Challenge Competition.
Thirty teams took part in the competition held at the University of The West of Scotland’s Hamilton Campus.
This is a fabulous result. Well done to the team.

Senior Maths Team Challenge
Congratulations to Haider Suleman S6Ivy Ng S6 Morna Weir S5 Stuart Milloy S5 who gained 3rd place in the Regional Finals of the Senior Maths Team Challenge held at Paisley University on November 13th.
Twenty one teams took part so this is a splendid achievement. Well done!
Key dates for assessment and review of progress in Mathematics
Mrs Gibson (PT of Mathematics) has sent home letters to parents informing them of key dates for assessment and review of progress of pupils in Mathematics in S1-S4 throughout the session.

Great Pi Bake Off 2014
Congratulations to Mitchell Smith in S2 who has won 8th place in the Great Pi Bake Off 2014 with the heart-shaped Pi themed cake that he made for Pi Day. Photos of all 162 entries were posted online and people from across the UK could vote from the end of March.
Mitchell has been awarded for his achievement with a WH Smith voucher and certificate! Well done Mitchell!
UKMT Maths Challenge
Congratulations to the Junior Maths Team who were awarded 4th place at the UKMT Team Maths Challenge competition at Paisley University. A total of 28 teams took part.
Team Members were
- S1 – Jack Bell and Kirstin West
- S2 – Eildih Hamilton and Craig Methven
Nuffield Placement Scheme Summer of 2014. S5 Pupils
Nuffield Placement Scheme will take place once again during the summer of 2014. This involves completing a science/mathematics/engineering placement during the summer holidays.
As in previous years, the scheme is aimed at the current 5th year students who will be sitting their Highers in 2014 and who are studying any science, technology, engineering and/or maths subjects.
The students should have good Int 2 level results in these subjects . More importantly they should be motivated and interested in studying sience at university.
It also pays £80 per week!
