Education Committee

Congratulations to two of our senior pupils and  4 buddies from Williamwood and St Ninian’s High School who represented the school at the Education Commitee about the recent “Make Your Dreams Come True 8” weekend. A short dvd was shown of the weekend and a special thank you to all the buddies who helped make the weekend a tremendous experience, we couldn’t do it without you all!

Grow Cook Eat

Congratulations to some of our senior pupils who are busy preparing food for their Grow Cook Eat Showcase which takes place this afternoon.

The pupils have invited a number of important guests. Unfortunately HRH Prince Edward couldn’t make it this week but we are delighted that our parents and  staff from ERC are able to come.

During our placements at Reid Kerr College and Rouken Glen Training Centre we have learned the important skills of cultivating produce such as lettuce and cucumber and then using the produce to make a tasty meal.

IMS NEWS @ 2

The pupils of Class Shetland were excited to showcase their hard work at our school assembly.

They loved working with Phil Goodlad,Sports Reporter from the BBC,learning the skills required for putting together a news report.

Our team of intrepid reporters interviewed Mrs Wallace, Mrs Sim, Kirsteen from the kitchen and a few pupils. They asked some hard hitting questions that Sir Trevor McDonald would have been impressed with!

Their news report included some video footage of pupils saying goodye from the old school and then welcoming our fantsatic new school!

Mrs Wallace presented everyone with achievement certificates at the end for being confident individuals.

IMS Welcome Event

On Friday 23rd March IMS are holding a “fare thee well” to friends from our old cluster (Williamwood) and “Hello” to friends from our new Eastwood Cluster.

We have linked this event with Sports Relief and are holding our very own Special games throughout the day.

Pupils from both clusters are helping out and we will be supported by Alan Martin and the Active Schools Team.

Some of the events that will take place on the day are; Boccia, Curling, Scottish Dance and Football in the Muga.

It looks like it’s going to be a fun filled event and hopefuly the sun will shine for us on the day!

Mair for Us!

In August 2011 Mrs Wallace set IMS classes the £10 challenge, to see who could raise the most money for school funds.  Classes Whalsay, Shetland and Orkney successfully clubbed together to create and raffle a Luxury Christmas Hamper.  Following the success of this they have taken on the challenge of setting up and running a tuck shop for staff in IMS.  After a brain storming session they voted for the name – Mair for Us.  Following extensive market research the produce was bought and priced.  Now opening day has arrived!  The shop opened from 11.30 to 1pm, providing a range of treats to buy, with pupils from these classes working hard to ensure a high quality service.  The pupils have high hopes for a successful, money making tuck shop!

Good Luck everyone.

Swimming Gala

Good luck to pupils from Classes Cumbrae, Arran, Sanda and Mani from Tiree class who are taking part in the West of Scotland SEN Sports Association and Swimming Gala in Blantyre Leisure Pool tomorrow.

This is the first time that these classes have taken part so fingers crossed everything goes swimmingly!

GOOD LUCK
