Transition to School 2020

Our Moving On programme  has been developed together with colleagues from Our Lady of the Mission Primary School, Thornliebank Nursery and Primary School, Giffnock Nursery and Primary School and Braidbar Nursery and Primary School. This programme is appropriate for all of our pre-school children, even if they will be attending a primary school outwith the neighbourhood.

Our Moving On programme reflects some of the experiences we would typically be doing in nursery this term. They are based on the story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen which can be accessed online. If you are unable to access this and require a paper copy of the book, please contact us and we will arrange to lend you a copy.

Each Monday until the end of term we will share an activity sheet by email and on our website which has some suggested activities. We encourage you and your child to engage in some of the activities throughout the week and keep a record of this learning however, as with all home learning activities please do what works for your family and in ways which interest your child.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt- intro and week 1

Remember you don’t need to do everything suggested or spend a long time on this. Simply pick the activities which suit your child’s interests and a do a little bit when it suits you  throughout the week.

Bear Hunt week 2

We love to see you sharing these activities on Twitter- don’t forget to tag us and your child’s primary school.

3. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt- week 3

We hope you have been enjoying lots of new activities at home as part of this programme.

4. Bear hunt- week 4

Our transition visits have now started with children invited to meet their classmates in small groups both in nursery and at school.

5. Bear hunt week 5

And the finally week of activities before the summer break.

6. Bear Hunt week 6

We have also prepared a Sway to help answer some of the questions you may have about the transition process for children who are due to move on to Primary 1 in August.

We hope you find it helpful.
