We also really enjoyed making our own Egyptian style bread to experience what food would have been like in ancient times.  We also enjoyed working with sand by creating sand pyramid art and sand clay!

We were very successful learners this week during topic time.

Earth Day

We had a very ECO friendly morning in the Beech class as we raised awareness for Earth Day.  We went out a lovely nature walk, planted sunflowers, made nature clay imprints and designed a poster to show our dedication to helping save the planet.  We also switched off all technology all morning where we could to help save power!

well done, Team Beech!

Welcome Back Pine Class…ready for Earth Day?

Working in our SQA Communication Unit, we were successful learners picking our favourite Encanto characters, and putting them into the correct families. We watched a little more of the film and enjoyed some more of the songs.

Some of us got to enjoy a shot on the bike around the playground – thank you Mr Cameron.

We used sensory play for a few reasons different reasons this week,  for hand exercises – working on gripping and stretching. Working on our fine motor skills using the tongs to pick up different shaped objects. We used all the different objects to add up and count down for numeracy.

The weather has been lovely and we went for a couple walk to the Kay Park, we enjoyed watching the ducks and swans in the pond.

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection, it was first held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet. We have been responsible citizens turning of the lights and all the equipment when we weren’t needing them. We watched some interested videos, listened to some catchy songs and made some cool artwork .

Our ECO rep says remember and turn off when not in use!!!

We mixed flour, vegetable oil, salt, brown paint and beef stock cubes together to form a dough. We rolled sausage shapes and put them in the oven to harden. We all really enjoyed exploring dinosaur poop!

IDL evidence – Using cardboard tubes to make a telescope.

Every good pirate needs a good telescope to look out for enemy flags and treasure!
The Asteroids confidently collected and counted out old toilet roll tubes to make their own telescopes.

We painted them black which was tricky to do and then left them to dry. Once they were ready, we had to fit the tubes inside each other, so we had to cut one or two and make them narrower tubes. When we had them all fitted and arranged, we sellotaped them together and decorated them.
They look fantastic, don’t you agree?

IDL Evidence Literacy

Successful Learners     Confident Individuals     Effective Contributors

The Snowdrops have been learning about toys through pictures and words.  We have enjoyed fun matching games and had lots of success recognising pictures and words. Everyone showed lots of interest in the different pictures, saying or signing their names and giving good eye-contact towards all the pictures. Great work Snowdrops!
