Weather Reporter Role!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *

The Bluebells class have enjoyed taking turns at being our daily weather reporter. They use their weather binoculars to look out the window up at the sky. Then they use our Kilmarnock weather forecast board to show their friends what the weather is like each day.

Harvesting Veg

Today we had fun visiting the sensory garden and harvested lots of fruits and veg from the planters, just like Oliver in the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’.

We were responsible citizens and made sure that we were carefully pulling out the veg, and were confident individuals when we were smelling different herbs.

Weather Move and Groove Session!

The Bluebells class enjoyed a move and groove session where they had to roll the weather dice and copy different actions.

Sunshine – Star jumps

Rain – Jumping in puddles

Rainbow – Downward dog yoga pose

Thunder – Stamped feet

Snow – Snow angels

Windy – Spinning tornadoes

We loved it and had great fun!

IDL – Numeracy Survey

This week we used a lot of skills to complete a supermarket survey within our school.  We wanted to find out which supermarket was the most popular.

We used our communication skills to speak and sign in full sentences, we were all confident individuals when entering other classes.

We gathered the results, added up all the numbers and created a bar chart.

The winner of the most used supermarket is…………………………………………

TESCO, with ASDA and MORRISON’s being a close second.

Hungry for Hot Dogs!

In the film “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, hot dogs fall from the sky. We decided to make hot dogs at cookery today. We all had fun getting to grips with lifting and moving the hot dogs using tongs. We were all very good at this!

Lego Rainbows!

The Bluebells class completed a “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” theme related activity today. They attempted to make rainbows using lego bricks. We found this quite tricky as we were missing some of the colours of the rainbow, but we made a good attempt!

IDL – Working together and Sharing

Our morning group, everyone is confident individuals and sign in, choose a friend then say ‘Good morning’. Great interaction with class friends every day with no prompting.

So this week we were successful learners making homemade pizza.  We made no yeast pizza dough and our own fresh tomato sauce.

Everyone was pleased with the results and it tasted delicious, Our pizza dough was made from flour and low fat natural yoghurt.

Our IDL topic book ‘Pizza Day’ explains about all working together to create lovely healthy food, tidying up afterwards and siting together to share the food we all made.

DIY Rain Clouds!

The Bluebells class enjoyed a science activity related to our “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” theme. We managed to make rain clouds in a jar using water, shaving foam and blue food colouring. It was lots of fun!

Playing with Percussion Instruments!

The Bluebells class are loving their theme “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.  During the film, there are lots of scenes with different types of weather.

We had a challenge to find instruments and materials that reminded us of different weather – sunshine, rainy days, windy days and thunder. We enjoyed playing these instruments along to the weather song and had to listen carefully so we knew if it was our turn to play or not.

African Five

We have been learning all about the different animals that live in Africa. we explored the types of animals, where they live and even watched some animals live in their zoo habitats. We recreated the infamous African Serengeti sunset with our chosen African animal.
