Thistle Street – Who lives in my house?

The Daisies class enjoyed looking at photographs of the people that live inside their house. We used these to create a lift the flap style house craft to showcase on our theme wall display.

Thistle Street – Build a House Dice Game!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class enjoyed having some competitive play with a dice rolling build a house game. We took turns rolling the dice and cutting out the numbered parts of the house. Then we had to use our shapes to try and build a house.

Logan and Riley were our winners today!

Thistle Street – Using Shapes to make Houses

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS *

The Daisies class enjoyed using their knowledge of 2D shapes to help them when adding doors, windows and chimneys to houses.

We also used flat shapes to try and build some houses.

Finally, we used lego bricks and tried to build houses to give shelter to our toys. We loved doing this and worked very well in pairs to do this!

Successful Learners – ILP Targets

The Transition class continued their excellent progress through their ILP targets. They were all Successful Learners working on writing skills, time telling, literacy with technology, planning for future events, numeracy language and pattern matching. It was a real hive of industry this week!

Successful Learners – Body Senses

The Transition class were Successful Learners this week when we discovered more about how different parts of our bodies feel when we do different things. We made lots of noises with our voices and discussed how our voice box felt. We also took part in a lot of stretching and tried to describe how our muscles felt. There were a lot of different, interesting answers. Well done everyone!

Confident Individuals – Cookery, Neep Preparation

As part of their SQA healthy cooking and Burns work, the Transition class were Confident Individuals preparing neeps this week. They all peeled and chopped very safely, following instructions very well. however, I don’t think the taste of raw neep was universally liked!

Effective Contributors – Drake Music

This week the Transition class were Effective Contributors when they had their first visit from Drake Music. Due to current restrictions this was online but everyone in the class interacted well and took their turn to sing, make noise or rhythm. Well done!

Successful Learners – DofE Route Making on Community Travel

Some of the Transition class began learning about photographic routes for their DofE expedition this week. They were Successful Learners when they took some lettered stones out into the Kay Park and placed them for the rest of the class to find next week. They photographed their route and the places the stones are so that the class can easily find them. Watch this space!

Confident Individuals – Burns’ Supper Preparation

It has been a busy week of Burns’ Supper preparation in Transition class. The class have been Confident Individuals making name tags and hats, trying on kilts, rehearsing singing Burns’ songs, practicing signing and refreshing our memories on setting a table. Everyone played their part well and we are all looking forward to filming our efforts next week.
