Earth day

On Thursday we celebrated Earth day by learning about different things we can do to be kind to our planet.

The Comets were effective contributors and responsible citizens . We worked hard as a team and participated in discussions around  different ways to help and protect our planet.

The children made collages of the Earth and we made seed bombs to go home and plant.

Welcome back Comets

It has been lovely having all of the children back in class and they have been very excited to see their friends.

The children have all settled back into the classroom routines well.

I have attached some images from the activities we have been doing over the week.

The children loved making flower prints and we have enjoyed lots of outdoor play.

Easter activities

In the Comets class we have been busy doing lots of fun Easter activities. We have been effective contributors  and worked well as a team to find all of the hidden eggs in the garden.

During our Easter literacy task this week we have been successful learners.  We were each given a shopping list with different Easter treats and had to look through our magazines to find each of the items and tick them off on our lists.

We were confident individuals when we made our delicious chocolaty egg nests.  The children learned all about a Bain-Marie and how to do this safely.

For our Easter assembly we made some fabulous chick inspired instruments.

Have an eggcellent holiday Comets and family!

Love from Miss Robertson and the ladies x

Today we have busy been doing lots of activities for, ”lots of socks day” which was celebrated on Sunday.

For numeracy we were matching pairs of socks together and counting up in twos.

FAOL- Fairtrade breakfast

The Comets were successful learners by listening carefully to instructions to a recipe, we were also able to find the Fairtrade logo on the chocolate bars. We then created these delicious Fairtrade banana and chocolate breakfast bites.

We worked hard to peel and chop our bananas and of course we had fun trying all of the yummy Fairtrade chocolate!

Home learning tasks- week 7

Good morning Comets and happy Monday!

We are officially in Spring and it has been super to see a little sunshine over the weekend

What better way to start the 1st day of a new month by practising our signs for the months of the year!

This week we will be Effective Contributors as we work on our tasks for World Book Day.  For our home learning this week we will be looking at different books and of course a new Giglets story. You can find the home learning tasks HERE.

I have included a delicious recipe for a Gruffalo cake (we are HUGE fans of the Gruffalo in class.)

It has been so lovely to see you all on our VScene calls and I look forward to it again this week.

Home learning tasks-week 6

Good morning Comets and families,

How are we all? We are missing you in school and can’t wait till we can be together again.

Last week during our VScene calls we practised signing the colours of the rainbow. February is LGTB month and this Friday is ‘Purple Friday’.  We have been working hard on activities in class.  At home you can try and make this beautiful rainbow.

The resources you need for this art activity are-

  • Some cotton balls
  • Piece of paper
  • Different coloured paint (colours from the rainbow)

Using the cotton balls make different coloured arches. Remember you will need a new cotton ball for each colour. After each colour you can practise the signs.

Other home learning tasks for the week can be found HERE.

We do not have a Giglets book assigned for this week. However, if you would like one added to your account you can email me. I can add something I think you would enjoy. This week I will be doing our weekly check-ins on Wednesday. I am looking forward to speaking to you all.

Take care and stay safe,

Miss Robertson x
