Careers Advisers from Skills Development Scotland have now delivered the webinar for parents and carers which gave an overview of Scottish Apprenticeships. During the webinar the advisers gave information about Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships. This was the latest in a series of webinars aimed at supporting parents and carers to help young people make smart career choices.

National Child Online Safety Campaign
A new National Child Online Safety Campaign launched on 8 February to coincide with Safer Internet Day. The campaign is being led by the Scottish Government with Child Protection Committees Scotland, Police Scotland and other a range of third sector partners.
The campaign aims to increase awareness of the importance of online safety to parents and carers of children aged 8-11 year olds, and reassure and inform them that the skills they apply offline to help keep their children safe can be used tohelp protect them online too.
A supporting Parent Club webpage includes practical ideas and advice for parents and the Parent Club toolkit sets out simple ways in which partner organisations can further support the campaign.

Here at New Cumnock Primary School, we use our School App for a quick and effective way to contact and communicate with our parents/carers. Our new P1s are being sent home an information leaflet about this today. Please see below for details on how to download this app on your mobile device.
Please also share this information with anyone who may be dropping off or collecting your child from school (childminder/grandparents/family friends) as we may sometimes have to send information urgently before the start or end of the school day.

Now that schools are back, the Cumnock Chronicle are looking for parents/carers to send in pictures of your little ones heading into school for their first day, to be featured in the newspaper to mark this special occasion.
Please forward your photos to Fionnuala Boyle at fionnuala.boyle@newsquest.co.uk.

A huge thank you again to our families who have agreed to be part of our pilot of Learning Journals.
This fortnight, our staff are going to focus on sharing ‘STORIES‘ with you about your child whilst in school. It would be really useful and beneficial to both your child and their class teacher if you are able to login and respond to these posts with either a ‘thumbs up’ or a comment. The children love to know their work is being shared with you.
In addition to this, we are encouraging our parents/carers to add ‘PARENTAL CONTRIBUTIONS‘. This is where you can share any learning or achievements from home, with the class teacher. This information is invaluable and gives us a further insight into our young people.
If you have forgotten your log in information and need this to be reset, please email Mrs McNulty at danielle.mcnulty@eastayrshire.org.uk and she will assist you.
We are also able to assign more than 1 parent to your child’s account so if you wish to do so, please complete the contact form below.
