Choir Success at the Choral Competition 2024

A huge congratulations to our school choir who have been placed in the top 3 in The Robert Burns World Federation school choral competition!

With a lot more schools having entered this year and the standard being extremely high, it is a wonderful achievement to have made it to the top 3 in Scotland for another year!

The results of the competition will be announced at the Primary Festival on Saturday 1st June 2024 at Clydeview Academy, Gourock.

I am inviting any members of the choir, who were in the recording, who wish to attend the festival for the announcement of the results. We will listen to the recordings of the top three choirs ahead of results, and medals for the choir will be presented on the day.

Please note that this will be down to parental responsibility to arrange transport, should you wish to attend. The awards ceremony is usually held about 3pm, therefore I would encourage you to come along for no later that 2.30pm where you will be entertained in the main hall.

Please find attached the bio for the adjudicator, Kerry has also given feedback in the form of an adjudication sheet, these will be released once the results are announced.

Ayrshire Burns Competition 2024

Dear parents/carers of children who are entered in the Ayrshire Burns Schools Competition this Saturday.

I have received updated information regarding timings of the event. Please see below from Schools Convenor, Beth Kerr:

Numbers are high, especially in the Primary Verse Speaking sections and as a result we have decided to start registration earlier to allow time to process all entries. Registration will now start at 11am and close at 12.30pm.

We are also going to hold two welcome sessions, 12.35 and 12.50. It’s important that all families attend a welcome session in the Main assembly hall as vital safety information will be given at this time. The children will be informed at registration which welcome session they should attend.

In light of this information, I ask families to meet me in the main reception area at 11.30am. Bring a packed lunch with you and you can eat this whilst you wait before the welcome meeting. This will also give me time to meet with children and get photographs before we are all split into the different disciplines.

I have met with all children this week as part of our final preparations and they know which areas to work on, if any. I’m so proud of the progress they have made and the confidence they show in their performances!

Please remember children should be dressed in full school uniform on Saturday with a touch or tartan if they have any. I have tartan sashes should anyone need something on the day. We also have a bank of school shirts and ties here. Please email me or contact me at the school should you need any prior to the weekend.

Kind regards,

Mrs McNulty

Burns Competition Success Shared

24/6/22

At Friday’s Get Togethers, we were entertained by pupils who competed in the Ayrshire Burns Competition this month, showcasing their talents in singing, poetry and instrumental to their peers.

Everyone was amazed by and in awe of the talent displayed by our young people! Many pupils have since voiced an interest in competing next year after seeing what can be achieved.

Mrs Wilson was presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers to say thank you for all her help in support in accompanying our singers with the piano. We are so grateful for her help!

Well done again to all our talented children, we are so proud of you all!
