We hope you are all well. The kids have plenty of jobs in their home learning pack but here are another couple of ideas for the week ahead. After the Easter holidays we will update a list of job for the coming week on a Monday morning. Please do not stress over completing tasks these are only suggestions and we completely understand that this time is particularly challenging for some of our kids with the lack of school routine etc.
Practice your sounds – all jingles are on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euxN7LGOoLc
Counting- try counting objects such as toys and giving your adult the number asked for. Try finding numbers around the house. Tell your adult what number you have found. Listen to and take part in counting songs on YouTube
Be creative and be part of your community- you could still make a rainbow if you haven’t already done so to display in your window. This week people are going to be making a sunshine to display in their windows.
Follow instructions- help an adult make lunch
Join in with physical activity: Joe Wicks on YouTube, play outside in your garden or in SLC 1 we particularly love GoNoodle on YouTube- we all love the dinosaur stomp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imhi98dHa5
Please keep working through your pack that was sent home last week and remember that 1 literacy and numeracy task per day is enough. You do not need to write directly on to the worksheets as you can use the laminated white card to record your work and reuse the worksheets again in a few weeks. Also, please log on to bug club and sumdog regularly as we enjoy using this in class.
We love listening to stories in class so why not log on to www.worldofdavidwalliams.com where you can listen to the author read a free story each day. My wee boy has really enjoyed doing this!!
Have you painted, drawn, chalked or made a picture of a rainbow for your living room window yet? This is a good a activity to do this week to let everyone know they need to stay safe and stay indoors. I’ll be making one for my window this week.
Can you try and make a calm down jar this week? These are good to play with if you need a little time by yourself. I have attached a link to a website to give you ideas of what to make if you wish to do so. Some of the non-glitter jars might be best to make.
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as best as you could. Remember to keep working through your packs, one worksheet a day is more than enough for Literacy and Numeracy. This could then be supplemented with online resources such as Bug Club, Sumdog and Nessy. I have added a table below with some additional challenges for you to try this week.
Tasks for Week Beginning 30 / 3 / 20
Literacy
Numeracy / Maths
All my other learning
Make a list of 5 ‘sh’ words.
You can use paint, chalk, shaving foam, pens, pencils, stampers, cut letters out of a newspaper / magazine, etc
Practise skip counting in 2s.
Anytime you climb the stairs count up in 2s. Hop / jump whilst counting in 2s. Youtube videos of counting in 2s.
We have been asked to stay at home as much as we can. Design your dream bedroom.
You can draw a picture and label it, you can use lego to build it or use junk materials to create a model.
Keep a daily journal of this week.
Write a short paragraph for each day. Try to use all of the punctuation you have learned, including speech marks and exclamation marks. Make your sentences longer using ‘and’ or ‘but’. For example,
Today is Sunday 30th March. It is cloudy with sunny spells and a little windy. I cleaned the windows and it was hard work! I said “These windows look much nicer but I am needing a break.”
2 times table bingo
Write down 6 numbers that appear in the 2 times table.
(0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20)
Ask someone at home to say aloud a sum, for example 2 times 3.
If you have the answer cross it out. Can you clear all of your numbers?
Aim for 60 minutes activity a day!
To help you with this tune in to Joe Wicks’ PE lessons live on Youtube.
Make up a dance or create your own fitness routine. Copy dance routines from Youtube videos.
Get out in the garden and practise some sports.
Number talks : 62
Jot down ways to make 62. You can use adding sums and take away sums. You can draw a picture of tens and units.
Hello Primary 3/4!
I hope that you are all keeping well and staying safe at home. I missed seeing you all last week, hearing all your wee stories and learning together.
Each Monday I will post on here to keep in contact with you and your families and let you know what tasks/activities are set for the week.
This week I would like you to keep working on the home learning pack that I sent home to you. This was to last you for around two weeks.
I have been checking Bug Club and Sumdog every day. Well done to those of you who went on last week. I enjoyed seeing how you got on with your bugs and I was happy to see some people had completed the sumdog task I had set. This week’s sumdog tasks focus on the times tables and money. Don’t worry if you completed these last week – you can enjoy playing the games that come after!
There are lots of fun things online you can be doing too – PE with Joe Wicks, online stories and virtual tours of zoo’s! I hope you are enjoying these if you’ve been tuning in.
I hope you have a good week Primary 3/4. Keeping working on your home learning packs, practice your reading on Bug Club your numbers on Sumdog and have fun with your families.
Take care of yourself and each other and I hope to see you when we can,
From Mrs Hastings x
