Children’s Wellbeing Survey for P5-7

The Council and its partners are currently working with Scottish Government through a programme called Realigning Children’s Services to help to improve local services for children in your area. All primary schools in the area have been invited to take part and we are inviting all children in P5 to P7 to complete a short online questionnaire during school time on their lives and wellbeing.

Please find a leaflet and letter in the P5-7’s bags which describe the survey and allow the choice of whether to take part or not.

Eels in the Classroom

A week last Friday the P7s and a bonus P5 represented the school and the Eels in the Classroom Project at the Johnstonebridge Community Centre, after school. One of the P7s made a speech about her experience which I have shared below, and which contains an important message. Hannah is dressed as Roald Dahl ‘s Matilda for good measure!

Sportshall Athletics at Moffat Academy

All present P4-7 pupils took part in the annual Small Schools Sportshall Athletics Qualifying Event at Moffat Academy this morning. All participants did their best in the indoor track and field events competing against the the other small schools in Annandale and Eskdale, well done.

Tag Rugby

Today, members of P7, P6 and some P5 went to Violetbank in Annan to take part in the Tag Rugby Fesitval. Despite a wet start, the rain stopped and the sun even came out. We played four games, the first three back to back and then got our best result in the last game when we drew 3-3 with Beattock. Well done to all who took part and thanks to Active Schools and Annan Rugby for a fun morning.

Road Relay

We entered a girls and a boys team into the Road Relay event last week at the Everholm in Annan. Well done to the boys who came 14th overall and also to the girls team below, who came 9th overall and 3rd in the small schools.

Coffee Afternoon

On Friday the 14th of September, Brydekirk Primary got together where pupils and staff wore yellow and the school was opened up for a coffee afternoon. Parents and the wider community were invited to join us and donations were given where we raised over £100: all proceeds will be sent to Marie Curie.

The event recognised the recent passing of Mark Nicholson, one of our parents of former pupils Amy, Katie and Dan. Our deepest condolences go to them and Debbie and Ellie.
