National Digital Learning Week 2017

Deputy First Minister Set to Launch National Digital Learning Week

National Digital Learning Week is 15-19th May. This year the theme of the week is ‘Digital Difference’ and throughout the week you’re invited to share and celebrate the digital approaches which make a positive impact on your classroom practice.

Deputy First Minister John Swinney will be launching the week via a short video. Visit DigiLearnScot from Monday 15th May to hear Mr Swinney address teachers, pupils and parents about the benefits digital makes in education and officially launch the week.

S1 Transition Week

S1 transition week is fast approaching some of our Academy Schools.

If your new S1s require a CC4 login then please contact the primary schools who should be able to pull up lists of P7 Glow Usernames.

Instructions on how to do this as follows,

  • Log into Glow using the school ASM account or a personal account if you have Admin Rights
  • Click Management Console along the top of RM Unify
  • Select Groups on the right
  • Click the blue actions next to P7 and then select View Members
  • Now you will be able to download all members in the group
  • This will then download an Excel Spreadsheet

Microsoft Innovator Educator Expert Applications

The application process for the MIE Expert programme is now open!

You will need to have registered for the Microsoft Educator Community (MED)with your Glow credentials and a link can be found via the purple MED tile on the Aberdeenshire Glow Launchpad.

Information about the programme can be found here and you can start your  application here – all you have to do is to complete a short self-nomination form and include the URL to their profile on MEC and SWAY/Mix/Video (this part takes just 5 – 10 mins).  I should flag that all nominees must have their Certified MIE badge before they can be selected as an MIE Expert.

Info re becoming an MIE can be found here You only need to earn 1000 points!

There are lots of benefits from joining the programme and opportunites to keep up to date with the latest developments with Microsoft applications, all of which are available to Glow Users.

Famous Five Literacy Competition

JOIN THE ADVENTURE WITH THE FAMOUS FIVE

2017 marks the 75th anniversary of The Famous Five, Enid Blyton’s best-loved and phenomenally successful book series.

To celebrate this landmark year, all 21 books in the Famous Five series are being re-released in May 2017 with brand new contemporary illustrations from rising star Laura Ellen Anderson.

We’re also inviting you to take part in our exciting competition below as a Literacy Project for your class or an after school club project. We can’t wait to see your stories!

 

The Literacy competition is open to Primary 5 pupils and they need to create a Sway.

Smart Notebook Beginner Twilights

I have just sent 3 twilights to the Aberdeenshire CPD Team to be advertised on Aberdeenshire Events.

These are beginner sessions and are suitable for staff who haven’t used Notebook software or just require a refresher.

  • Meldrum Academy      10th May

  • Banchory Academy      15th May
