Achaleven Primary opens new houses in Connel

Achaleven ACHA Houses Opening 4We were very proud, along with John Finnie MSP, to officially open the new ACHA houses that have been built in Connel. A few months ago we suggested some names for the new street and were so excited when one of the names, St Orans, was selected by ACHA. It was lovely that we were invited back for the official opening ceremony.

News Reporters Appointed at Kirn Primary

Kirn News ReportersCongratulations to Oscar, Bronte and Nathan on their success in being appointed as News Reporters in Kirn Primary.

All three P6 children (as well as many other applicants from P6) completed their application forms, then attended an interview before receiving a letter to say they had been successful. All three were very happy to accept!

Kirn’s P6 have “the BEST time EVER” at Ardentinny

Kirn Ardentiny 1Kirn Primary’s P6 children had an amazing time at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre and in just under four days managed to rock-hop, safari on the seashore, abseil, waterfall climb, forest walk, orienteer, eat great food, disco and have the Best Time EVER! Everyone had a fantastic time and lots of happy memories to bring home.

Dunoon Grammar School Music visit Kirn Early Learning and Childcare Centre

DGS visit Kirn PS  Early YearsOn Wednesday 29th April Karen McChesney and pupils from Dunoon Grammar School visited the Early Learning and Childcare Centre at Kirn to share some musical experiences. the children had fun with vocal warm-ups, clapping, dancing and singing and then enjoyed listening to Karen’s guitar playing.

Fairyland Castles at Toward Primary School

Toward PS Castle GerrishPrimary 1 to 3 Pupils of Toward Primary have been working very hard to rebuild Fairyland in their classroom with help from the Friendly Dragon. Pupils were given a family learning challenge to plan, design and create their own model of their dream castle with help from members of their family.

Scientists in the Making!

DPS Glasgow Scientific Centre 4P7 pupils from Dunoon Primary School recently visited Glasgow Scientific Services as part of their Science Interdisciplinary Study. The pupils had been learning about radiation and the Chernobyl disaster. They recently had Mr Tom Henry, retired Environmental Health Officer, visit their classroom to talk about the radiation monitoring and sampling that he carried out as part of his job. All the samples that Mr Henry took were analysed in Glasgow Scientific Services and so he accompanied the class on their trip.

Generation science meets Clachan and Skipness Primary Schools!

Clachan and Skipness Generation ScienceGeneration Science(an amazing science group)came to teach the interesting art of science!! First fuel hunters, the constructive pair of oil-mazing enginers as well as the robo-tastic Lego-mindstorms. The pupils had a range of tricky challenges having to use their brains and robots to complete them. The children were no doubt all loving the robot disco! Dunoon Primary School Choir wow the crowds at Daffodil Tea!

DPS Daffodil Tea 1st May 2015 2Dunoon Primary School hosted their Annual Daffodil Tea on Tuesday 28th April. The Choir sang a selection of their favourite songs. The afternoon show was well attended by Senior Citizens from our local Community and the children presented a well rehearsed selection of songs e.g. Skyscraper Wean, Under the Sea and Colours of the Wind. The varied song choices and actions to the songs gave the delighted audience ‘the wow factor’.
