Donation to Raven Trust

Strachur Donation to Raven TrustStrachur Primary P6-7 have donated proceeds from selling a school newspaper to a local charity that supports communities in Malawi. They also sold second hand school uniforms, making their total donation up to £70. The money will be used to purchase jotters and pens for school children across Malawi. Mr Challis from the Raven Trust was very thankful for the donation and promised to come back with photographs from his trip next year. Annie and Tommi (house captains) are pictured presenting the cheque to Mr Challis.

Strachur Primary Bring and Buy Sale

Strachur PS Transition bring and buy 1P6-7 held a Bring and Buy Sale in their classroom today and raised £93! This goes towards the P7 transition trip to Benmore next year. They will have the chance to bond with their future Dunoon Grammar peers. Thanks to all the families who donated items to sell. Well done P6-7 and Mrs Tato!

Dalintober PS Support Children In Need 2015

Dalintober PS Children in need fundraiserDalintober PS and ELCC Fundraise for Children In Need

Dalintober PS and ELCC raised funds for BBC’s ‘Children In Need’ annual appeal last Friday. A non-uniform day was held – with an array of outfits and costumes on show! Various smaller fundraisers were led by pupils throughout the day including a discothon, cake stall, face painting and much more. A fabulous £430.03 was raised for the charity.

Castlehill Children in Need 1Pupils in Castlehill Primary had a busy week carrying out various activities to help raise money for Children In Need.

On Tuesday the P7s held an ‘All Day Beetle Drive’ where they invited each of the classes in the school to play ‘Beetle’. Great fun was had by all!

Children in need 2015 at Dunoon primary

DPS Children in Need 2015 1In Dunoon Primary, Mrs Macdonald and P7 organised a Drawing Competition, a Raffle, made Badges and Bookmarks, held a Non Uniform Day and held a Bake Sale all to raise money for Children in Need. Thanks to the fantastic support of staff, pupils, parents and friends of Dunoon Primary the amazing sum of £928.47 was raised. A huge thank you to all!

Wear to Scare for Save the Children

Salen Halloween 3The children of Salen Primary School and Pre-school held a Wear to Scare day for Halloween to raise funds for Save the Children. The children and staff came to school dressed up for the day and staged a magnificent parade in the hall. The school hall had been spookily decorated by Janny Jan for the village Halloween party organised by our lovely SWRI. It was the perfect venue for a quick parade and collection which amounted to £80.

Colgrain Primary Health Week

Colgrain health week wed 011Colgrain Primary enjoyed a fantastic health week, last week. Local clubs and coaches came into school to lead sessions for all pupils. Our parents kindly donated fruit for snack times and the event was rounded off with a wonderful sports quiz to raise funds for our school hall. Rothesay Joint Campus fundraiser for RNLI

Rothesay PS RNLI FundraiserPrimary 5/4 at Rothesay Joint Campus held a very successful sale for the RNLI on Friday 23rd October. They raised a whopping £540 for this wonderful organisation.
To prepare for the sale, they learned about the RNLI by going to the Tighnabruiach lifeboat station and meeting the volunteers there. It was great fun going on the B-class rib. They also practised their money skills and customer service skills before the big day.

Strone Primary Make Food Donation

Strone PS Food bankTo celebrate Harvest time, Strone’s P5-7 class organised a Harvest Assembly for the school. Parents were invited to come along and bring a donation of food, which the children decided to donate to the Cowal Food Bank. The children had a fantastic response to this request, and last week P5-7 Class Teacher Fiona Maclean, Classroom Assistant Dorothy Brayshaw, and four Strone pupils visited the Cowal Food Bank on Kirk Street, to deliver our donations to staff member Jim Elsby.

Dunoon Primary School Nepal Appeal

Dunoon PS Nepal appealWhen last year’s p4 in Dunoon Primary heard of the shocking devastation following the earthquakes in Nepal, they were determined to do something to help the people, who had suffered such losses in the tragedy. They searched online for information about the country and its people and then looked for ways to help. Their initial concern was the lack of clean water, so they organised a raffle and sent £81.15 to UNICEF, who were providing water in the region. However, the help did not stop there.

Southend Primary School – MacMillan Cancer Support coffee afternoon.

Southend Coffee Morning 3P5-7 at Southend Primary School organised and held a MacMillan Cancer Support coffee afternoon on Friday 25th of September. Seasonal healthy vegetables, grown and harvested by the children, Christmas cards, and delicious home baking were on sale. A fantastic amount of £513 was raised. A huge thank you to all parents, the local community, and to those who were involved in supporting this worthwhile event.

Community Spirit at St. Joseph’s

St Josephs Zumba 2The staff and parents of St. Joseph’s in Helensburgh were delighted with the community support given to them last week at their ‘Sponsored Zumba’ event. In a bid to raise the remaining funds for the school’s newly built Trim Trail, the parents and staff ran a fund-raising event with a ‘Health’ theme. However, the event was also open to the community and everyone was delighted with the fantastic support from the ladies of ‘Angela’s Zumba Class’.

Global Citizenship Alive and Well at St. Joseph’s!

St Josephs Missio 2The children of St. Joseph’s Primary in Helensburgh were delighted to welcome Sr. Stacey of the order of ‘The Sisters of St. Peter Claver’ at assembly this week. Sr. Stacey gave a superb presentation on the work of ‘Missio Scotland’, a charity close to the heart of all the children at school. At specific times in the academic session, in a bid to support the missions, the children collect money for this charity.
