We had lots of fun turning our Nursery into a shop today! For snack we all made fireworks biscuits – they were yummy! The music teacher was in Nursery today and we were singing songs about going to the shops!
Have a lovely weekend!

Have a lovely weekend!
Today we spoke about being safe at a bonfire/fireworks party. Children continued to make model fireworks and to paint pictures of fireworks. In PE we further explored finding a space and different ways of moving around. The adventure Teds went home today and we are looking forward to finding out what they have been up to on Monday.
Some of the morning boys and girls were playing with plastic balls in the water tray, which led to a great discussion about what things might float and what might sink. Several different objects were brought to the water tray to try out, with a few surprising finds! This scientific exploration continued in the afternoon and so we decided we should explore more tomorrow with a wider selection of objects.
In the morning, outdoor play was spent in the glorious sunshine while afternoon outdoor play was shrouded in fog! The children loved the fact that, when they breathed out, they could see their breath and this led to their being several dragons running around outside! One lovely description of the weather was that it made everything look ‘soft’!
At group time we continued to practise our nativity songs. We are now on to song number 3!!
What fun the children had today making models, painting and gluing firework models! AM children did some drama using Handel’s music from The Royal Fireworks – we were spinning like catherine wheels and zooming like rockets! We made sparkly playdough which we used to make flames for rockets and sparkles on fireworks. We sang our new Fireworks song – the children have all brought a copy home to have some fun with at home. The song provides great opportunities for counting to 10 and back from 10, which is something we have at the maths table just now. The nursery bulletin went home today – please have a read to see what we have planned for this week.
The children came in today with lots of stories about their holidays! They settled quickly back into the nursery routine, which was interrupted a little as everyone had to have their photographs taken. Lots of lovely, smiling photos taken!!
Both morning and afternoon children recycled different sizes and shapes of boxes to make musical instruments. They put some dry pasta inside the boxes then taped them shut – et voila! Shakers!!
The sun was shining today so we also managed to fit in outdoor playtime, then ended sessions by hearing our first song from this years’ nativity!!! Can’t wait!!
Lots of fun in the soft sand today and plenty of people practising their cutting skills in the messy room.
After a popular snack of toast and jam or margarine, another sunny day meant plenty of outdoor play and even more train tracks being built – but by the morning children this time!
Group time was spent choosing new library books, with lots of exciting stories heading home this week for bedtime reading!
Today the children had a go playing on the Cajon drums. These are box drums which originated in Peru. The children tried playing quietly and loudly, then had a go at tapping out the syllables in their names.
In the afternoon, we used our listening skills again when playing Musical Statues. The children were very good at standing very still!
The sun shone again so we had lots of outdoor fun. Some children used the outdoor bricks to make a brilliant train track then sat in the empty box, pushing each other along the tracks!
We talked about the seasons today and what the animals do in the autumn. The music teacher was in nursery – we were keeping a steady beat using the bells, we sang the Bear Hunt Song and moved in time to the music pretending to be dinosaurs – lots of fun! We enjoyed more late summer sun and played with the bikes outside.
Another lovely sunny day so the children made the most of enjoying being outside. We continued the interest in construction using the outdoor environment and natural resources to make a ‘run’ the ball could roll down. We learned more about autumn and talked about an indian summer!
Another sunny day today so yet more time spent outside having fun. There was a lot of imaginative play happening in the sand pit with birthday cakes and other treats being made, and in the willow shelter which was a space rocket! At group time, morning and afternoon children spent time choosing their new library books which they can take home and enjoy with their families! In the messy room, we used autumnal colours to do our handprints and these are now on display in the big too where we have created a beautiful tree display. Pop in and have a look!
