P7/6 Go Wild

P7/6 had a fantastic time taking part in a Kids Gone Wild session in our school woods, enjoying an afternoon packed with adventure, creativity and fresh air.

The session gave pupils the chance to connect with nature while challenging themselves in new ways. One of the highlights was tree climbing, where children were encouraged to assess risks, support one another and build confidence as they explored the trees safely. It was wonderful to see pupils demonstrating resilience and problem‑solving skills while cheering each other on.

Another popular activity was slack lining, which really put balance and concentration to the test. Even when it was tricky at first, pupils showed great determination, learning that perseverance and practice can lead to success.

There was also time to slow down and relax. Pupils enjoyed resting in hammocks, taking a moment to lie back, listen to the sounds of the woods and appreciate their surroundings. This calm, mindful time was a lovely contrast to the more active challenges and helped everyone feel refreshed.

Throughout the session, pupils were encouraged to engage in creative play using natural materials found in the woods. From imaginative games to building and storytelling, the children’s creativity flourished as they worked together and let their ideas lead the way.

The Kids Gone Wild session was a brilliant opportunity for P7/6 to develop confidence, teamwork and creativity while enjoying the benefits of outdoor learning. Smiles, laughter and muddy shoes at the end of the day showed just how much everyone gained from the experience!

Teamwork at it’s Finest in P6/7

This week in P6/7 we enjoyed playing handball with P4/5.  We also had great fun working as a team on our chocolatey packaging production line. We had to work collaboratively to follow the steps and be as efficient as possible.

Building Thinking Classrooms and Building a Chocolate Factory!

This week, Primary 7 enjoyed working together, exploring ideas and problem-solving while learning about scale drawings in our Building Thinking Classroom.
We also worked brilliantly to create a chocolate‑packaging production line, learning how to organise tasks, follow logical steps, and streamline our process while having lots of fun collaborating

In January Primary 7 pupils took part in the Watt Box challenge, set by Heriot Watt University. The University staff challenged our P7’s to design a chariot which could travel 2 metres and be pushed or pulled by a Sphero Bot.  The staff from Heriot Watt were so impressed with the enthusiasm and skills shown by the children, including their preparation and design process, and as a result Toronto Primary were chosen as the Inveralmond Cluster winners.  For being the winning ICHS cluster school Heriot Watt invited our P7 children to visit the university to take part in a variety of STEM based activities.

Trip to Forth Bridges Education Centre

Primary 4, Primary 3/4 and Primary 3 had a wonderful time at the Forth Bridges Education Centre today. We listened to a quick bridges and engineering presentation then completed an engineering challenge in groups. After lunch we walked across the Forth Road Bridge so the children could experience the scale and structure of the bridges. Well done everyone!

Victorian Inventions in P5/6

P5/6 have been learning about Victorian inventions this week and had a go at being Victorian detectives. We had a look at some objects from Victorian times and tried to guess what they might be used for. We then looked online at photos from a Victorian museum to find out if we were correct.
