DYW Skills Fair

Some of our P7’s had an amazing time at the Almondvale Stadium this week investigating careers at West Lothian’s DYW Skills Fair. All pupil enjoyed lots of interactive activities – making bath bombs, slime, ice cream and lemonade, working on their coding skills using the Scratch website, finding out about items of medical equipment, trying out VR headsets, creating and designing our own sweets and sweet shops, as well as many other interesting skills and careers.

What a fab morning!

Last night of fun at camp

Today, our last full day we finally had a good spell of sunshine. We all enjoyed doing our final activities. We absailed, hill walked, went canoeing, (only some of us jumped in) but we all took part! There was also archery and tree climbing. We played loads of different games during our free time with our new friends. We are currently enjoying the disco but looking forward to chapter 3 of Harry Potter tonight and coming to see you all tomorrow! We’ve had the best time! Love Primary 7.

P1a Numeracy

In maths this week, P1a have been learning about different ways to collect data. So far we have looked at pictograms, tally marks and bar graphs. The class have had lots of fun exploring this! Super work primary 1!

Belmont Fun

Yesterday and today has been all about making new friends and learning new challenges at camp!  Everyone slept really well last night.  Miss Lawton was pampering the girls by braiding their hair whilst over in the boys dorm Miss Watson was enjoying listening to Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone but the boys zonked before the end of chapter 2!  Fresh air works wonders!  A tasty full breakfast for everyone this morning and another full day ahead today followed by disco fun tonight!  I think these smiles are even bigger than the ones from yesterday 🙂

Day 1 at Belmont Camp

From the look on these little faces, we can tell that our Primary 7 campers had a ball yesterday!  Enjoy day 2 everyone!  We can’t wait to see more photos of all the memories you’re making!

Terrific Toronto Teachers

Our Toronto staff have been taking part in a variety of sessions, including online learning, to develop their knowledge and skills in using some of our digital resources.

In our latest session they have been refreshing their knowledge of Education City. This website is an active and engaging resource we use in class to support our pupils’ learning.

Toronto’s Digital Leaders also attended this learning session and are confident in supporting our pupils, and our staff, in the use of this fab resource. What super team work at Toronto!

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

Some children from P1 and P2 worked with Mrs Black on one of their favourite stories – We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

After enjoying reading the story , the boys successfully ordered the pictures to retell the story.  They then drew, coloured and annotated their own pictures to create a collaborative book of the story and used playdough to recreate scenes from the story. All before watching the animated version of the story on the smartboard. What hardworking boys!

Productive afternoons in Primary 3/4

Primary 3/4 have been working hard over the past week on their Interdisciplinary topic “The Titanic”. The pupils were set a challenge to “raise the Titanic from her watery grave” by reproducing the unsinkable ship in their classroom.  The children worked well together to decide upon how they would like to display the ship in their room. They then split into teams and took a part of the display each to work on. The finished product was completely the work of the children. They worked together to establish their ideas, list the resources they required, shared out the jobs and the work and then put all the elements together. Their Titanic display is quite impressive and definitely meets the criteria set in the challenge, by demonstrating their skills, teamwork and creativity.

After all that hard work, it was time to enjoy the sunshine! We took our PE outdoors and practiced some of our races and skills we will need for taking part in our Sports Day that is coming soon. We loved racing each other and had lots of laughs when balancing the bean bags on our heads!

P6 Cross Country

Last week Toronto Primary hosted our cluster Cross country event for all P6 pupils.  The sun was shining and all Primary 6 were raring to go. Each pupil gave it their all and put a great amount of effort in to complete the route in great times, on such a warm, sunny day!

Congratulations to one of our own pupils, Kayla, who came FIRST in the girls category!
We are so proud of her achievement!  Well done Kayla!

P1a Numeracy

In numeracy this week, primary 1 have been learning about the value of numbers and have been working on putting numbers in the correct order from smallest to largest. The extra challenge has been that some numbers are missing! We also worked on making numbers using ten frames so we could see which numbers were bigger in a different way. A particular highlight was our 100 square challenge where they all worked as a team to make up the giant 100 square. Well done P1 🙂 so proud!
