Toronto Burns Assembly 2018
At Toronto PS our children always impress us and make us proud…today was a goosebump kind of day, as together, we celebrated the life and times of the great Robert Burns.
Liam from P5 kicked the whole thing off by piping each class into Assembly where our House and Vice Captains presented poetry winners from across the school with wonderful certificates.
We managed to catch a few on video…we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did! Follow the next few posts for all of the fun!

Scottie Dugs Sewing
Primary 6 continued the celebration of all things Scots in Art and Design with Mrs Fox this week by creating some wonderful and wacky Scottie dugs.
The children chose their favourite patterned fabric with a plain coordinating colour. Then using a template, they pinned and cut the material. Finally they used an over-stitch to attach both pieces together.

Next steps will be:
- To stuff the dugs and add a ribbon so they can be displayed.
- Personalise the design by adding our own choice of embellishments.
So many skills squeezed into one learning opportunity!
STEM Construction Challenge
Children in our P1-3 department have been thoroughly enjoying taking part in a range of construction based challenges this week! These challenges have been collaborative, motivating and above all FUN! We have had to learn how to co-operate in mini teams, problem solve, persevere and express our own ideas using a wide range of practical materials! Here are a few snapshots of Primary 3/2 in action…with a couple of sneaky P7s who wanted in on the building site action! Oh and Ms Elder who was instructed by the Site Manager to wear her hard hat and high viz waistcoat before she could pass through 🙂
Toronto Nursery Elf Door
Mmmm…we wonder who will spot our elf door first?

Nativity small world role play
Thanks goes to Blair for thinking of using a big box to make a stable for the baby Jesus! Our afternoon children were inspired by their Primary 1 friends after getting a sneaky peak of their dress rehearsal yesterday. Morning children will get to see it on a Thursday.

Well done P5.

Primary 4 learning about the importance of Road Safety
Primary 4 loved creating wonderful posters to raise awareness of the effects of Road Safety. During their walk last week they took photos of the school and used them in their work! We think they are amazing! Well done Primary 4!
