Community Art

Ursula Cheng came into school this week as part of a community art project. Ursula is collating ideas from local schools and community groups as she is planning to use these ideas to paint a local tunnel.
The children at Toronto helped Ursula to make paints from natural materials such as fruit and vegetables and used these to paint their own pictures.

P2/3 Explore Mondrian

P2/3 have been exploring the works of different artists. This week we looked at Piet Mondrian. Did you know Mondrian began as an artist by painting realistic landscapes?!

He then changed how he painted – he didn’t want his pictures to look like nature, he wanted to explore how colour and line worked together.

P2/3 had a go at creating their own pieces of simple Mondrian art using only a few colours.

P4 and P4/3 Scottish Art Gallery

Over the past few weeks Primary 4 and 4/3 have been learning about famous Scottish artists Charles Rennie MacKintosh who was famous for his beautiful rose stained glass window designs, Steven Brown who coined the McCoo Highland Cow art and Andy Scott who designed The Kelpies. They have thoroughly enjoyed this topic and showcases their outstanding artwork in a gallery which they took great delight in showcasing to our whole school and nursery! Well done P4 and P4/3 you blew us away with your knowledge and we loved visiting your gallery! 🎨
