P5 Celebrate Burns Day

In Primary 5, we enjoyed researching and making our own family tartan for our Burn’s display.

We enjoyed the Burns Assembly and the yummy shortbread.

We enjoyed learning and reciting our Burn’s poem ‘Up in the Morning Early’. We liked practicing our best Scottish accents!

We were happy for the afterschool clubs to start up this week. We loved the Multi-sports club.

P4/5 Welcome to the Woods

Last week we looked at the biodiversity of our woods. We found many plants and insects living there, so this week we took on the challenge of creating some bug homes/hotels for the wide variety of minibeasts inhabiting the area and to attract many more, using only resources we found in the woods.

When creating our homes and hotels we made sure to think about the conditions and requirements for the bugs – dark, wet, well concealed, access to food, etc.

The minibeasts moved in quickly!

P4/5 Managing our Emotions

Primary 4/5 have been developing their own strategies to help them identify and regulate their emotions, after being inspired by Virginia Ironside’s “Huge Bag of Worries”.

P4/5 made their own worry monsters to keep with them at all times so that they are able to acknowledge, express and let go of their anxieties as the monster will  listen to, gobble up and hug away their worries.

We discussed other ways of sharing and releasing our worries, we reminded ourselves of our trusted adults to talk to, using music and meditation to relax and the one strategy we really enjoyed was imagining our worries inside a bubble, blowing them away and watching them float off into the sky.

P4/5 Outdoor Learning

This morning we visited the wooded area of our playground to investigate the biodiversity there. We listed all the living things we found, took lots of photos of them and discussed the conditions that made this a good place for them to live and grow and how theses living things interacted with each other. We also made some tree bark and leaf rubbings.

Did you know to estimate the age of a tree, count the number of rings on the stump, from the centre out?!

We can’t wait to investigate other areas of our playground to see how the biodiversity differs depending on the conditions.

We wonder what we would find if we investigated a river or pond, a beach, a mountain? 🤔

Primary 7 Camp – Day 4

What another fun filled day for our Primary 7’s. Today we took part in a nature scavenger hunt where there was a big race to find a squirrel! We then had a picnic for our lunch out at the trim trail… Mr Abbott and I really enjoyed having our lunch with you all!

In the afternoon, we spent time out on the field taking part in different sports activities and ended the afternoon with an ice pole to cool down in the lovely sunshine! 😊

Thank you for all of the fun Primary 7!

Primary 7 Camp – Day 2

What another fun filled day our Primary 7’s have had at their school camp. This morning we made a fire and toasted marshmallows. Some of our marshmallows were on the burnt side but super goooey inside… Yummy!
We then got into our PJ’s for a movie afternoon. During our movie afternoon, we had a surprise visit from an ice cream van in our school car park. Check out our photos below!

Our camp leaders at the end of today are… dorm 1 with an amazing 25 points. Well done to Willow, Peyton, Grace, Emily, Marwa and Molly!
