See you all tomorrow!

Anti Bullying Week with Primary 7-6

Thank you Primary 7-6 for embracing my challenging questions this morning during our anti-bullying debates with maturity, respect and confidence.  You showed me that you could collaborate and work together towards a common goal.  Your messages of wisdom were not only creative but they were inspirational!  #antibullyingweek2017  #antibullyingwristbands

Sophie – ‘Never let anyone dull your sparkle’

Josh – ‘Niceness is Priceless’

Louise – ‘You are stronger than you think you are’

Fundraising Coffee Morning – Friday 17th November

Fundraising events help us to demonstrate what it means to be a good citizen.  We know we are raising money to help others and provide valuable resources for communities.   Tomorrow we are supporting Children in Need and Breast Cancer Awareness.

We thank all our families for their very generous donations, there is a lovely range of home baking to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee.  We look forward to giving all our visitors a very warm Toronto welcome.

Rag Bags

As part of our ongoing work towards maintaining our ECO status, your child has received a Rag Bag.  As you will be aware, this initiative has been developed to raise awareness of textile recycling. By participating you are helping the environment and supporting West Lothian Council to meet recycling targets as well as raising funds for our school.

We are looking for wearable clothes, paired shoes, handbags and belts. Please return your Rag Bag to school by Monday 6th March.  If you have lots, we will gratefully receive them in black bags too.  If your child cannot manage in with them themselves, please drop at the office, thank you!  More information can be found here:  http://www.rag-bag.co.uk/

World Book Day

world-book-day

This year World Book Day falls on Thursday the 2nd of March, but in school we will be celebrating on Friday 3rd of March where we will invite all children to dress up as a character from one of their favourite books.  You can find lots of ideas at the following website:  http://www.worldbookday.com/

Our Assembly team are busy working on a very exciting Assembly for Friday too and will be going around school this week filming staff and children telling us what their favourite books are.  They will then make this into a short movie that will be shared with the children at Assembly.

As part of World Book Day, the children have requested that we do a book swap again.  We would like to ask everyone to send in a book from home that they are finished reading and that they wouldn’t mind swapping with someone else in school.  Books should be in very good condition.  Children can send in more than one book and our aim would be that all children in our school get to swap a book and leave with another.  This was hugely successful the last time we did it and we are really hoping for the same thing again this year.  Please send books in to classes anytime from now and we will aim to carry out our Book Swap at the start of next week if we have enough books.  Thank you in advance.

Scottish Family Learning Challenge

Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year to you all!!  We hope that you have had a very enjoyable Christmas break and from all of the excited faces we were greeted with on Wednesday, we think it is safe to say that everyone is happy to be back into routine!

As you know, before the holidays we issued a wee Scottish family learning challenge which was to build a 3D model of a Scottish landmark with your family.  Some of you have certainly been busy and we have really enjoyed seeing what you have made so far.  Please ensure that your family creations are sent in to school by Monday the 9th of January so that we can have them ready for displaying…and later judging!   Thanks everyone!  Mrs Simpson
