P4 and P4/3 Scottish Art Gallery

Over the past few weeks Primary 4 and 4/3 have been learning about famous Scottish artists Charles Rennie MacKintosh who was famous for his beautiful rose stained glass window designs, Steven Brown who coined the McCoo Highland Cow art and Andy Scott who designed The Kelpies. They have thoroughly enjoyed this topic and showcases their outstanding artwork in a gallery which they took great delight in showcasing to our whole school and nursery! Well done P4 and P4/3 you blew us away with your knowledge and we loved visiting your gallery! 🎨

Liam our Primary 5 piper!

At Toronto PS we are honoured to have our very own little Bagpipe superstar!! Liam began learning his craft on the chanter 3 years ago and has now been playing the bagpipes for around 2 years! We are extremely proud of you Liam, you have an incredible future ahead of you and every single child and adult at TPS couldn’t stop smiling at how far you’ve come! You blew us all away! 🎵

Toronto Burns Assembly 2018

At Toronto PS our children always impress us and make us proud…today was a goosebump kind of day, as together, we celebrated the life and times of the great Robert Burns.

Liam from P5 kicked the whole thing off by piping each class into Assembly where our House and Vice Captains presented poetry winners from across the school with wonderful certificates.

We managed to catch a few on video…we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did!  Follow the next few posts for all of the fun!

Ceilidh Collaboration

Primary 5 and Primary 5/4 have worked together very effectively to plan, organise and lead a number of Ceilidhs for other classes this week,  in celebration of Scottish traditions.

Here they are dancing with P1 and P2/1, showing that they are excellent role models and enjoying dance.

Scottie Dugs Sewing

Primary 6 continued the celebration of all things Scots in Art and Design with Mrs Fox this week by creating some wonderful and wacky Scottie dugs.

The children chose their favourite patterned fabric with a plain coordinating colour.  Then using a template, they pinned and cut the material.  Finally they used an over-stitch to attach both pieces together.

Next steps will be:

  • To stuff the dugs and add a ribbon so they can be displayed.
  • Personalise the design by adding our own choice of embellishments.

So many skills squeezed into one learning opportunity!
