Welcome to June P2A

Good morning P2A, what a lovely day it is!

It was so amazing to see how well you engaged with Fitness Fortnight and I’m very glad you enjoyed the activities.

Here is your week 8 learning grid.
P2 Home Learning Grid – Week 8 (New Format)

You may notice there are a few more activities. The grid will now have 1 literacy activity, 1 Numeracy activity and 2 other activities for each day.  This is just to give you some more options of activities to try out. As usual, you do not need to complete all activities and some of them you might try out more than once.  Remember to share any activities you do with me on Twitter. I will also be setting some assessments on Sumdog if you want to have a go.

Nursery to Primary 1 Transition

Good morning everyone.

As part of our Nursery to Primary 1 transition, involving both Nursery and P1 pupils, each day this week a video to introduce the P1 staff will be uploaded to our new youtube channel. To Infinity and Beyond – P3 Drama

On Saturday a spaceship took off in America headed for space. You can watch the launch here.

Drama Activities 

Imagine you are an astronaut headed on this mission. Act out the following –

  • Pack a bag to take with you into space – what will you bring? You can use props.
  • It’s the morning of your mission. Get dressed in your space suit – you will need a helmet, a spacesuit and space boots. Is it easy to move in? Try to walk about the room.
  • You are sitting in the space rocket (with your seat belt on of course!) and the countdown begins. 10, 9, 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0!! The rocket takes off. What would you say? What will your face and body look like?
  • The rocket is now in space. There is no gravity in space so you are very light (your feet don’t stay on the ground!). Show how you would move about.

PRIMARY 1 READING

We hope you all enjoyed Fitness Fortnight. Your teachers certainly enjoyed trying lots of different activities,

This week, I wonder if you can create your own puppet show.

Choose a book and then make puppets for each of the characters in your story. You may also create the setting for the story too. I wonder where it takes place, is it the farm, the zoo, the woods or in Fairyland?

What can you use to create puppets? In class we often draw the characters, colour them, cut them out and add to a stick.  You can also make puppets from paper bags, wooden spoons or even socks! We can’t wait to see what story you decide to re-tell.

Here are some ideas for making puppets.

Some parents have also asked for more keywords. I’ve added 3 sheets with more keywords, these are quite tricky so only use them if you already know all your words. They really are a challenge.

Many of you are already really good at blending your sounds to read words. There are lots of sheets added here to help you practise blending. Cut out a strip at a time, muddle the words and then see if you can put them together to create a sentence.  Remember the clues to look for- a capital letter will be at the beginning and a full-stop will be at the end.  You can draw a picture of your sentence.

P2/1 Welcome to June

Hi everyone,

I hope you enjoyed Fitness Fortnight with the activities set by Mr Tennant. It was great to see some children participating and having lots of fun.

P2 – Here is the new P2 home learning grid – week 8 1.6.20 . We have changed it a little and the grid will now have 1 literacy activity, 1 Numeracy activity and 2 other activities for each day. The grid will still be issued on a Monday and you can complete the activities at a time which suits your family best.  You do not need to complete all activities and some of them you might try out more than once.  Remember to share any activities you do with me on Twitter.  I have also set some assessments on Sumdog and Education City if you want to have a go.

P1 – Your daily learning experiences will continue to be issued by the P1 teachers. I love to see what you are doing so remember to share with me on Twitter. I have also set you an assessment on Sumdog for this week.

Happy Monday, everyone! Please find below the grid for this week, along with the supporting documents. As always, remember to just complete what you can.

Our suggested timetable is just to give you a little bit of structure if you need it, but we recommend trying to complete one Literacy, one Numeracy and two other curricular area activities per day. There is no pressure to complete every activity on the grid – we have given you lots of options, some very active tasks and some that require you to be sitting down and writing or drawing, so you should have plenty of ideas to choose from that will work for your needs!

This week’s Art lesson has been created using a Microsoft Sway presentation, with videos of me demonstrating the task and explaining the instructions. It should be a case of simply swiping up to get the next slide and pressing play on the video to get the next task!
