Good afternoon. P1 have had a busy week. In Literacy we learned the sounds t, i and n. We also learned the red words me and the. We taught ted how to write the sounds, played i-spy, created tigers and nests, iced a biscuit with the letter i. In writing we drew a picture showing what makes us happy.
In Numeracy we have been exploring the numbers 6,7 and 8. We have gone on adventures with these numbers, made them using playdough, explored the numbers using cubes and Numicon, drew pictures of 6, 7 and 8 and played the 8 or not 8 game.
We have been busy building, playing with the dinosaurs, playing with the cars and our playdough. On Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Smith we explored our map more and looked at labelling our map. We also explored using the Beebots. On Thursday afternoon we got to see Oliver Twist in the hall. We got to sit at the back on the benches next to our P7 buddies.

Good afternoon. P1 have had a very busy and productive week. The week has been packed full of different fitness activities. We have taken part in fitness stations, played playground games such as dodge ball, taking part in athletics where we did running, throwing and jumping, played golf, did our fun run and took part in Judo. Photos have been posted on Twitter. Ask us what our favourite activity was.
In Literacy we have focused on red words this week. Red words are common words such as there. We looked for red words in a wordsearch, played roll and read, played snakes and ladders, wrote the red words and made them on our magnetic boards.
In Numeracy and Maths, we have been looking at money and exploring giving change from 10p and counting amounts up to 20p. We have counted money in purses and piggy banks, played change please on the computers and also played at shops.

Orlaith: “I liked Judo because it was really fun. I liked riding on Mia’s back.”
Mia: “I liked being Orlaith’s partner in Judo.”
Emma: “I liked taking part in Judo. I liked learning about friends and kindness. We played the compliments game.”
Lyla: “I liked Judo. Emma was my partner and went on my back.”
Finlay: “I enjoyed Judo. I liked Hunter being my partner. I liked playing playground games on Monday. I enjoyed learning the red words.”
David: “I liked Mitchell being my partner in Judo. I liked the crawlers trying to get me.”
Jessica: “I liked taking part in Judo and everything else this week. I liked learning red words.”

Good afternoon. Primary 1 absolutely loved having our mummies and daddies into school to share in our learning through play. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. In Literacy we learned the ‘ew’ and ‘ire’ sounds. We played roll and read, looked for real and nonsense words, played snakes and ladders and taught ted words. In writing we were learning about an information report. We wrote an information report about bikes.
In Maths this week we have been learning about symmetry. We looked for shapes or objects around the classroom that were symmetrical, made loose parts symmetrical faces, completed monster pictures so they were symmetrical. We used a mirror to help us.
In our afternoons we have been further exploring pets. We learned about what a pet needs such as love and food. We made split pin puppets of pets, made 2D pictures of pets and explored the role of a vet in helping to care for animals. In P.E we have been continuing to learn basic Tennis skills. In Health and wellbeing, we were labelling parts of the body. Here are the children’s reflections:

Good afternoon. What a very busy and productive week for Primary 1. In Literacy we learned the oa and ‘ow’ as in brown sounds. We played roll and read, looked for real and nonsense words, played snakes and ladders and made words. In writing we wrote about our pets if we had one or what pet we would like if we didn’t have one.
In Maths this week we have been exploring weight and capacity. We measured classroom items using a pan balance and cubes. We explored how many scoops of water it took to fill containers and guessed how many cups first of all before finding out.
This week we did our first assembly to the school. We took a trip through our whole school year sharing our learning through play. We worked very hard to learn our lines. Miss Maclachlan is very proud of us. Here are the children’s reflections:

Good afternoon. It has been a short but busy week for Primary 1. In Literacy we learned the ‘ai’ sound. We created spelling flowers, played roll and read and snakes and ladders and taught ted how to write words with the ‘ai’ sound.
In Maths this week we have been exploring length and weight. We helped measure the superhero footprints using cubes and measured classroom items. We became human pan balances to find out heavy or light objects around the classroom were. We also played a heavier or lighter game and sorted heavy and light items.
In P.E we are learning basic Tennis skills and played dodgeball. We have been continuing to set up our pet shop and this week we have decided on the name of Pet Shop Pets. In Health and Wellbeing, we explored people who help us and how they help. Here are the children’s reflections:

Good afternoon. P1 have had a very busy week. We have practised the split diagraph sounds, ar, ir, or sounds and red words. We have played roll and read, snakes and ladders, wrote words on whiteboards and made them on magnetic boards. In numeracy we have explored measurement. We looked at comparing objects that are bigger or smaller, measuring footprints and measuring items around the classroom using non-standard units. In IDL we have started exploring the theme of pets and are in the middle of setting up our role play area as a pet shop. Here are the children’s reflections:

Good Afternoon. P1 have been very busy this week. In Literacy we have been practising the ea, ee, oy, oi and split diagraphs a-e, i-e, o-e and u-e. We used our magnetic letters to build words, wrote words on our whiteboards, played roll and read and snakes and ladders and sorted real and nonsense treasure.
In Numeracy we have been looking at the problem solving strategy of look for a pattern. We made peg patterns, coloured patterns to find the rule on strips, made necklace patterns and sorted out Bobbie Bear’s outfits.
On Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Smith we sorted living and non-living things into a Carroll Diagram. We have explored the story of Katie Morag and Tiresome Ted. We then drew pictures of our favourite toys and spoke about why they were our favourite toys. On Friday we went to assembly where we learned about Earth day and the charity World Vision. Good afternoon. P1 have been very busy this week. In Literacy we learned the ur and er sounds and red word what. We wrote words, created a spelling flower, played roll and read and snakes and ladders. In writing we worked in pairs to create an acrostic poem all about Easter.
In Numeracy we have been counting in 2s. We have enjoyed singing and dancing along to Jack Hartmann’s song. Click on the link below to listen
We have also been learning about subtraction and different strategies to help us. We have been using Numicon, rekenreks, counters and ten frames and our number lines.
This week we have been exploring all things Easter. We created Easter chick cards, line patterned bunnies, sequenced the Easter story and created patterned Easter eggs in the tuff spot. On Thursday afternoon we made chocolate nests. We had to melt the chocolate which started as a solid, then mix in rice crispies and lastly scoop them into our case. We then got to add some eggs. On Friday we thoroughly enjoyed our Easter themed digi day. We worked together to create towers which we could balance eggs on, made a car which could transport eggs, fed teddy the right number of Easter eggs and tried to make something Easter related on Scratch junior.
