Good morning Primary three!
I hope you are all well.
In today’s Maths work, we are looking at position again, specifically in turns and clockwise/anti-clockwise direction. We have worked on this before in class a little, but if you need a refresher, clockwise is the way the hands move around an analogue clock (12, 1, 2, 3 etc). Anti-clockwise is the opposite direction, as if you were moving backwards in time (12, 11, 10, 9 etc.).
When talking about turns, we can think of a clock face as well as using our previous fractions work. So when we say a quarter turn clockwise, we would move from the position facing 12, then move in a clockwise directions – 1, then 2, then 3. When we get to 3, it has been a quarter turn, quarter of the circle.
I hope you all understand what I am explaining to you and if you have any problems, let me know. Here is the sheet to complete today.
