Let’s remind ourselves about Christian artefacts – that means objects you would find in a church. Have another look at the following powerpoint about some things you would find in a church. Look, in particular, at slides 4,5 & 6.
Here is another one of my favourite stories to finish up with. If you like dragons you will enjoy this story too. Maybe you could draw a dragon just like the one in the story.

Numeracy- Problem Solving
Remember when we used to do the BEAM problem solving activities in pairs?
I have found some other problem solving activities for you to have a go at. Choose a level you are comfortable with.Read the question through at least twice. Use your book if you need to for jottings. The answers are at the side when you are ready(it says solutions)-with suggestions from other children as to how they solved the problems.
We have been learning about resilience. Today we move onto I is for intention-read the document then complete the task.
Personal Project (about 35 minutes)
If you have not told me yet what you would like to research please let me know. Use the time up until 12pm (Friendship Time) to continue your research and make notes in your own words, in your jotter. You can use reference books, for example, encyclopedias and atlases, the internet, newspapers and magazines or personal interviews.

Writing
Today, I thought it would be great if we could do some writing about the weather. I would like you to write an imaginative story all about a person who lives on the sun! This is not possible in real life but it is great to use your imagination! You can make up the characters for the story, and it can be about anything you like, as long as the setting of your story is the sun. Happy imagining!
Numeracy
I would like us to recap counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. knowing these number facts will help us when learning our times tables! Watch each of the songs and try to sing along!

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you enjoyed Wellness Wednesday and managed to complete some of the activities.
Some tasks for you to try today.
Activity 1 – New Sound j
L.I. to understand that a letter shape is a “picture” of a sound I hear
S.C. I can say the sound to match the letter shape
S.C. I can blend j with other sounds to read words
S.C. I can write this letter to spell words beginning with the sound j
New sound today. J is a loud green sound that you make at the back of your throat. Practice saying the sound.
As you can see from the slide above, Jack slides down the beanstalk just like you will do with your pencil, all the way under the line, then lift your pencil and put a dot at the top of the cloud. Practice writing the j sound in your jotter. Can you blend the sounds below to make and say words?

New book today. Go to Oxford owl and login the usual way using my class login ( deansprimary1 and reading) then e-books, my bookshelf, age 5-6 lastly scroll down to Bushcraft. Enjoy reading and sharing the story with someone at home. Bushcraft is the skill of living in the woods. Its a really interesting book and at the back are questions to read and answer as well as questions to chat about, Enjoy!
Activity 3 – Number Talks

Happy Thursday girls and boys, I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday’s Wellbeing Wednesday! We’re coming to the end of another busy week of home learning with the summer holidays fast approaching!
Let’s start off our day with a little yoga to calm our minds, stretch our bodies and get ready to learn.
Reading
Today I thought we could have a focus on a non -fiction text. Can you remember what the difference between fiction and non-fiction is? Have a look through the suggested book on oxford owls e-books and see if you can share the differences you notice with an adult. The non-fiction text we will be looking at today is called ‘Fun at Night’
Before reading have a think about what this book is going to help us learn about, can you make a prediction? Can you think of anything you can do which is fun at night? Discuss this with an adult.
With the help of an adult read through the book, it is especially important to use and talk about the pictures before reading the sentence, searching for any tricky words or words you don’t know the meaning of? Can you use your word attack strategies to read the word? Once you and your adult have read through the book together, there are some questions for you below. Can you remember the answers or do you have to scan through the book to find the right page with the answer?

What can you normally see at dusk?

Why don’t you have a go at drawing your own nighttime/daytime picture? Or you could use the picture below to draw and label some pictures, sorting into daytime or nighttime.
Writing
Today we are going to have a go at using our imaginations to write a story. Think about all the things that a good writer does and share these with an adult.
I have chosen a picture for you to look at, this is from one of my favourite cartoons when I was little, it is called ‘Trap Door’. A trap door is a mysterious door fitted onto the ground. I wonder what is under there? Can you use your five senses to help you imagine what could be beneath the door?
