Overview Thursday 11. 2.21

Hello everyone, Mrs Lockhart here again. Hope you are all well.
Today you can find your work for Mrs Dobbie in her folder in class materials. I will meet with you in a check in at 11.00 and again after lunch at 1.30 for a live dictation lesson. All your work for the day from me is in the Class Materials folder dated Thursday 11.2.21. We are covering RME /French with Mrs Dobbie, maths problem solving, a dictation, a reading task from a non – fiction book and a poem for enjoyment.
Don’t forget it is good to have regular brain breaks and to get some fresh air.
I have written down times to try and help with organisation but feel free to move things around or do them later if that’s easier.
8.55 Mrs Dobbie’s activities
BREAK 10.30 – 10.45
11.00 live check in with Mrs Lockhart and overview of the day
11.20 Maths Task – Time
Watch video               https://youtu.be/KYDFFypbnYU
Now complete the worksheet Problem Solving – Time 4 in the folder named Class Materials Mrs Lockhart 11.2.21. Show your working in the box. Getting trickier!
I have added a video on counting on in 5’s when telling the time. Watch this carefully as there is follow up sheet to complete P.4 time 5minute intervals TO the hour

Also watch this How long is 5 minutes? video
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/maths-ks1-ks2-how-long-is-five-minutes/zdtjmfr

Make a time number line, starting at 0 and marking in five-minute intervals until you get to 60 because there are 60 minutes in an hour. Label each interval 5 past, 10 past, 15 past… 55 past, o’clock
Remember to continue playing the time game to demonstrate your knowledge. You can make it trickier by changing the instructions.

Why don’t you? – take a photo of your scores and share it with me in your folder. Try to get a PB that means a personal best.
12.15 Emoji check in. Let me know, by using the emoji at the side, how you are getting on.

LUNCH 12.30-1.15

1.30 LIVE CHECK IN and Spelling Work live dictation
Take a new line in your jotter write the short date (11.2.21) and title – Dictation
Listen carefully and write your group’s dictation.
2.00 Next task is to read a non-fiction book. You have two books to choose from All About Teeth or Animal Migration. Animal Migration is a little trickier so choose that one if you’re a confident reader. The follow up task is different for each book.
Like last time you will find the books online by following this link https://online.raintree.co.uk/login/index.html
Now follow these steps…………..
1. Username:DEAEH5
2. Password: pupil
3. Type All About Teeth or Animal Migration into the search bar at the top of the page
4. Then press the big green button READ BOOK
Remember you can use the audio button to listen to the book being read until you are confident enough to read it by yourself.
All About Teeth – Make a poster to tell everyone to Look After Your Teeth. Look for some key points in your book and then illustrate them. Remember a poster should be bright and bold without too much writing.
Animal Migration – Choose one of the animals described in the book and summarise the information about them by choosing 5 key facts, then illustrate your work.
Story time – I changed it to poetry time and added in one of our favourites The King’s Breakfast by A.A. Milne.

That’s all for today. I’m looking forward to being in touch with you
again tomorrow. Take care everyone.

“1-2 Corona Crew” successes!

Our P7 lockdown business enterprise is doing well- having sold out all 20 packs we had made in our first 2 days!

We have since bought more stock and have another 20 packs in quarantine ready for sale tomorrow or Friday!

Packs contain reusable masks, hand gel, wipes and tissues. This comes in a reusable wipe clean plastic wallet folder- which is great for storing in a bag or in the car!

Packs cost £4 each (or special introductory offer of 3 for £10 – which finishes this Friday!) You can order by emailing Mrs Rodden, phoning the office or bringing cash in an envelope to school . P7 will be happy to serve you!

We are also keen to share our success beyond Deans Primary and are holding a write a letter competition for our P7s. Their challenge is to write a letter to The First Minister, to highlight the skills they are learning – and maybe sell a few more packs in the parliament!!

We thank you for supporting us in promoting our business and Corona virus care!
