Dandelion Honey
INGREDIENTS
- 100 g fresh dandelion flowerheads, densely packed
- 2 slices lemon
- 350 ml water
- 300 g organic sugar
INSTRUCTION
1. Shake or blow the flowers to remove any bugs
2. Place the water, lemon slices and dandelion flowers in a saucepan
3. Simmer with a lid on for 15 minutes
4. Leave this to cool and infuse overnight
5. The next day, strain out the flowers and lemon by pouring the liquid through a strainer or muslin cloth. Press down to make sure you get all of that dandelion juice out!
6. Weigh the liquid, and then weigh out the same amount sugar.
7. Put the liquid back in the pan and add the sugar. Stir and heat gently at first until the sugar is dissolved. Then bring it up to a gentle boil for approximately 15 minutes.
8. Pour into clean sterilised jars and put the lids on while it’s still hot

Good Morning P1-3! Here is your Fun Friday Challenge.
Have you ever read any Mr Men or Little Miss books by Roger Hargreaves? There are lots of different, interesting and fun characters in the series e.g. Mr Funny, Little Miss Magic and Mr Topsy Turvy.
Your challenge today is to create a new Little Miss or Mr Men character. Draw a picture of them with their name underneath. Remember to share your picture on your Learning Journal.

P1-3 Daily Challenge
Good morning P1-3! Today’s challenge is to create a boat out of tinfoil.
You will need: tinfoil, scissors, a bowl of water and pennies
Instructions:
1. Use scissors to carefully cut the tinfoil into 2 rectangle shapes.
2. With the first piece of foil, form a boat that can hold pennies and not sink.
3. Predict how many pennies your boat will hold.
4. Place the foil boat in the bowl of water.
5. Place 1 penny at a time in the boat. Keep adding pennies until the boat sinks. Make sure you count them as you go!
6. Use the second piece of foil to make a new boat, based on what you observed from your previous design.
7. Estimate how many pennies the new design will hold.
8. Place the new boat in water, and carefully place 1 penny at a time in the boat until it sinks.

Here we are at the middle of May already! It is time for you to become a pirate and hide some treasure. Can you choose a treasure, maybe a coin or some of your jewellery, to hide somewhere in your house or garden (but don’t tell anyone where 😉). Then, can you draw a map using a starting point and putting an X for the treasure? Ask someone in your house to use the map to try and find the treasure. Maybe they could then make a map for you to follow if they have time. Have fun mateys! We would love to see a picture of your map on your Learning Journal if you’d like to post it.
