Pollination Celebration and Afternoon Tea!

Mrs Gaspar and the Perfect Pollinators would like to thank everyone who made last Thursday afternoon such an outstanding event! We were all delighted with every aspect and, for the pupils, it was a very rewarding experience as two years of planning came to fruition. Look out in the West Lothian Courier this Thursday or next for photos of the day.  Here are a few of ours.

Pollination Day Success!

Many thanks to all staff, pupils, families and community residents  who contributed to make our pollination work such a success. We were delighted that, Steve, the lead of Polli:Nation could join us for the day and was a great help. We were grateful for donations of money/material, time and effort to construct our insect hotel, plant the gigantic stone containers in front of the school and to create a bee-friendly reflection space across the street. We were delighted to be able to complete our tasks in one day!  Here are just a few of many pictures from the day.  Primary 2 even released some pollinators to mark the occasion.

Bee Happy!

Greetings from the ‘Perfect Pollinators’.  We have been very hard at work at work creating our bee board, designing and choosing a logo and getting ready for our pollination week, 22-25 May and tea party, Thursday the 31st May at 2.00.

If you are planning to volunteer and/or attend the tea party, please let Mrs Marra know for organising and catering.  We will keep you posted as the week progresses to let you know how things are going.  If you are planning to come to the tea party, you are welcome to come dressed in garden party attire!

We would like to thank everyone for their support thus far in donating items for our project.  We would also like to thank Bellsquarry and Adambrae Community Council for donating £100.  We have purchased a bench for the community area from a local source.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.  Until then…bee happy!

Perfect Pollinators

Well done to the Perfect Pollinators who presented the Polli:Nation initiative to the parent council last night.  We are very excited about the projects that will be undertaken between Easter and the summer and hope that parents and community members will get involved.

We will be having a Busy Bee week from the 22nd to the 25th of May.  During this time, we will need help to build an insect hotel, make-over our little bit of land across from the Elm Tree and paint a mural at the end of our school.  We also plan to help the community in replanting pots around the area.  Parents and communities are invited and welcome to come along and help out anytime during this week.

Our grand finale will take place in the form of an afternoon tea on Thursday the 31st of May.

More details about all of these will follow after Easter.  Thank you for making a note of these dates in the meantime.
