On Thursday we were lucky enough to have a lady come to visit us from the JYHS. She teaches Mandarin and did some work with us on the Chinese New Year. We told her all about some of the things that we had already learned, for example how Chinese New Year celebrations are linked to a mythical story about Nian the monster! We were very excited to learn some new Mandarin phrases and practiced wishing each other a happy new year.
