Today we finished our cards and letters for our French penpals. They are in for a treat and looked absolutely fantastic. We also made origami santas to put in the cards.

This morning we had a fantastic coding session with DYW. There were lots of difficult instructions to follow but we made it. We made a game where the shark had to try to dodge plastic and catch fish.
This afternoon we had a fantastic game design session with Emma Chittick. We used arcade.makecode.com to design our own game. It was quite hard to follow the instructions but everyone managed to make their own game. They looked really good.
For the first few weeks of term, the Primary 7s have been working hard, finding out about ‘Places that make us happy’ in the South Mainland. They used this learning to make an interactive map and this was shared today during the Shetland Health and Wellbeing week. It has been lovely to hear about everyone’s favourite places, stories and activities.
Please have a look and we hope that you enjoy it.
Here is the link for the finished map. https://www.thinglink.com/scene/1444059753809444865
The introduction and instruction for what to do is on the map.
Click on the white microphone first and it will explain everything.
There are then 5 types of tags
Green – wildlife
White – places
Red – stories
Yellow – history
Blue – activities.
If you click on a tag the audio will come up. There are also photos / written descriptions and most of the tags have a video link at the bottom of the script.
Enjoy 🙂
We have all had a lovely two weeks back in class seeing everyone. It has been so good to be back. We’ve had a lot of fun indoors and out and are looking forward to all the exciting things that we’ll be doing in our last term.
Have a wonderful Easter holiday 😄
The Primary 7 bairns have been developing their digital skills using Stop Motion animation. They have worked so imaginatively and enthusiastically on their Halloween creations, learning lots of tricks for effectively adding video and sound.
The final video versions will follow. I hope they don’t scare you too much!!!
Today we had our last STEM session. Emma Chittick was really pleased with all the skills that the class demonstrated, not just ICT skills, but cooperation and helping each other too.
Cole said “It was fun, going around the pretend city. It was also fun controlling the robots and telling them what to.”
Archie said “It was good. I most enjoyed programming the robots.”
Christie said “I loved the way you could do the task in your own way.”
Joanna said “ It was fun and it could make people more aware about all the different things you can do with screens.”
Emmy said “It was to learn about the driverless cars and the advantages and disadvantages of them.”
Faith “It was fun to programme your own robot.”
We have now finished our videos to send to the French competition. Here is one of the ones that we made earlier – an interview with Mbappe at Paris St Germain! Archie, Ronan and Junias take a bow!!!
Today, the class were given their next challenge, they had to deliver a ‘baguette ‘ by a driverless car! We used sensors, sound, the front lever to do this. We’ve got quite a few expert engineers now!
It was good to see everyone back after the holidays and lovely to hear about all the fun things that we’ve been doing during the holidays.
Emma Chittick came to do her second STEM session and we all had fun programming the space satellite to do a few more things.
