Making Bannocks

On Monday 5th September Edith Leslie came to teach Primary 7 how to make bannocks. She also brought us some treacle bannocks, oatcakes, plain bannocks and Welsh cakes to taste.  We had a great morning and we’re looking forward to having a go ourselves on Wednesday.

Here are a few things that the Primary 7s said afterwards.

‘The bannocks were good and it was fun learning how to make them.’ Kyle

‘I am really looking forward to making the bannocks on Wednesday and to eating them!’ said Lauren.

‘It was nice to have Edith make some bannocks and other treats, I hope she comes back.’ Victoria.

Cooking with Primary 7

While the Primary 6s are doing Playleader training and Bikeability, Primary 7 have had a chance to do some cooking. We are going to be sharing our recipes with Olenguruone school in Kenya. The first week we made leek and tattie soup and this week we made cheese, plain and fruit scones. They tasted delicious!

John Muir Day

Primary 7 had their first John Muir day of the year and everyone had a brilliant time. Pete came to collect us in the minibus and we headed up to the stores in Lerwick, to get all our coasteering gear on. John and Jill took us to the Cunningsburgh cliffs for a day exploring, swimming in the sea (with neesicks just beside us) and jumping and diving off the rocks. Lots of the Primary 7s said it was the best day of their lives! Everyone managed to jump into the sea, some of us even jumped from 5 metres up and Reece impressed us all by doing back flips from the highest point. We can’t wait for the next John Muir day.
