Profiling Wellbeing Tool (GMWP)

Over the course of the last two sessions we have been highlighting the Glasgow Motivation and Wellbeing Profiling Tool (GMWP).  The tool was developed by Glasgow’s Psychological Service and consists of a questionnaire that aims to understand wellbeing across domains outlined by GIRFEC SHANARRI indicators (Scottish Government, 2014). The tool is free and easy to use and allows establishments to ensure that pupil voice is at the heart of planning around wellbeing.

To support implementation, you can access the following resources:

Please note that you should transfer your information onto this updated version of the Excel spreadsheet .  Click here to access.

In October 2021, we established two focus groups to share their experiences and practice around implementation and recently Kilbarchan Primary School worked with the West Partnership to produce a storyboard of their journey.

The Wellbeing Profile can be used to support schools around their wellbeing approaches.  Once gaps or needs are identified, specific next steps can be identified to support recovery /
reconnection at whole school, class, group or individual level.  Click here to see a list of suggested activities schools can adopt.  You can find out more on the National Improvement Hub or by watching our recent info session where the focus group shares why they chose to use the tool and how they have implemented.

If you are planning on implementing the tool and wish support or advice on how to do this, please contact me at fiona.hewitt@renfrewshire.gov.uk

You can also find out which schools are involved as pilot schools from the October HWB newsletter.

Sincere thanks to all involved in the development of the GMWP tool and for sharing it with us all.
