Health and Well Being Activities for the Week – 09.06.20

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are well.

This week we will look at online safety.

As we are all spending so much more time online these days Mrs Arnold and I thought another wee exercise to remind us how to use our online time safely would be good.

This Power Point is best looked at with someone you can discuss your thoughts and answers with but can be worked through on your own if you want to.

Presentation

Chatting online ca be a great way to stay in touch with your friends and family but it really important to keep yourself when you chat.ย  This is a check list of things you can do to make sure you are being safe when you chat online.

Grammar
A good simile or metaphor is my favourite grammar technique. A simile is when you use like or as to compare something such as Miss Allan is as blind as a bat and a metaphor is comparing something saying it is something else such as Miss Allanโ€™s classroom is a zoo (haha). Now look at the BBC bitesize website and complete the 3 activities.

Rubies: Today you are going to use the BBC bitesize website to complete the 3 activities on adding a suffix. Thatโ€™s when you take your word and add a different ending to make it make sense in a sentence according to past, present or future tense.

Maths 09.06.20
Today I am going to attach a powerpoint on fractions. Please follow the information and answer the questions as you go (you need to have it opened on a full screen slideshow for everything to work).
If you would like to do a little more you can explore some of the fraction games on the topmarks website using the link below.
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/fractions-and-decimals

Rectangles: I was really impressed with your recognising numbers to 100. Lets see how well you can read and write numbers in written and numeral format today. Please read information on p10 and answer questions 1 and 2 on p11 of Leckie book 1A (I will attach pictures).

Art activity

Afternoon all,

I have a 10 minute clip for you to enjoy today. I would like you to be inspired by the reusing of household items to create something else which may be useful or just pretty.

Now I’m not expecting you to make any of the things you saw on the clip unless you want to and have the items in the house (also you will need permission and help from an adult especially if you need to use sharp instruments).

My challenge for you this week is to make something out of an item you would be throwing away. Use your imagination and have fun.

e.g

10 x 2 = 20

20 รท 2 = 10

Play Hit the button practising both multiplication and division.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Practise playing the times tables you know and challenge yourself with the other times tables that you find tricky. Then complete the worksheet.
