We are learning about symmetry in our maths work. We know both sides need to be a mirror image of each other and be the same on both sides. We did lots of activities to help us learn more about symmetry.

We printed symmetrical Christmas pictures on our wrapping paper, played symmetry games on the I-pads and used a mirror to make a Christmas bauble pictures symmetrical.

P2 Party

The Christmas party for P1 and P2 will be on Thursday 20th December.

The children should come to school dressed in their party clothes and bring one of the following items to share with the class;

2 litre bottle of juice

OR a multi pack of crisps

OR a bag of wrapped fun size chocolate sweets

OR a pack of individual shop bought cakes.

These can be brought in on any day of the last week of school, including the day of the party.

Christmas role play, story making,  creating, construction and literacy in the Learning Zone.

We also made character puppets to help us when we write an imaginative Christmas or adventure story. We will act out our stories using the puppets as well as the settings we drew and then write about what happens.

Homework/Show Costume

If you have not already done so, could the children bring in black leggings, trousers or jeans for the Nativity tomorrow as we have a dress rehearsal on Wednesday morning and we need to practise getting changed into our sheep costume. Trousers are the only thing you need to supply. The rest of the costume will be provided by the school.

Please put the trousers in a labelled bag with your child’s name and class on it as well as their name on the trouser. Please bring in by TOMORROW (Tuesday 11th December).

Keep working through ‘Sumdog’.

Do some mental adding sums up to 20.

Can you try finding the missing number too up to 10 like these   6 + ? = 10,  4 + ? = 7,  2 + ? = 6 etc.

Choose 1 task to do each week and return it to school on the Monday of the following week. Please ensure your child’s name is on their work.

Tomorrow we are having a visit from ‘Military Fitness’. We will get to complete an  assault course in the morning so the children will need loose comfortable clothing. They can come to school in jogging trousers, t-shirts, track suits or any suitable clothing and change into their gym shoes in the class.

Tomorrow is also St. Andrews Day and there will be a Scottish lunch on offer in the dinner hall. The children can wear something tartan if they wish.
