MATHS

We are learning to split large numbers into tens and units. Try some like this –

4.10.19

Today we were working on our maths skills as part of STEM week. We measured things using non-standard units, like cubes or paper clips, made some symmetrical pictures, used the remote control cars to position the car or bug on the correct number and split numbers into tens and units.

3.10.19

Today was our engineering day for STEM week. We read a story about ‘Rosie Greer Engineer’ to find out about what an engineer does.

Then we looked at the traditional tale of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and tried to build a bridge with different types of materials for the billy goats to get across to the other side of the meadow. After our bridges were built we got to look at all the other groups ideas and talk about them. We also used the puppets to act out the story too.

2.10.19

Today we looked at technology we use every day at school and in the home. We looked at pictures of the types of technology we use every day, went on a technology hunt around the school and drew pictures of the kinds of things we use in our homes.
