We were splitting numbers up today by counting a ten and then seeing how many more there were. We found out that 12 = 10 and 2. Can you use objects in the house to split? Try using pasta shapes, pennies or small items and put them into a ten to see how many more there are. You don’t need to go any further than 20.

We were learning some social skills in the Leaning Zone. We have been working on playing using ‘quiet voices’ and good ‘tidy up’ skills.

Remember tomorrow (Friday 28th September) is our coffee morning to raise money for charity. We would love to see you there where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a cake, as well as being entertained by the children singing. Primary 2 and 2/3 will be singing at 9.30. We look forward to seeing you there.

We were practising our songs for Fridays Coffee Morning. We also learned some new songs and watched video clips of them.

Homework

Your child has been issued with a homework folder containing a ‘Homework Guidline’ letter to explain what to do. Please read it and complete the reading, words and oral sounds every night.

Make sure everything is returned in the folder and brought to school each day as we will be using the reading books and word lists every day.

There is also a Reading Challenge sheet enclosed giving some ideas of other types of reading tasks. These can be completed over the coming weeks as was discussed at the Open Evening

Fun in the Learning Zone.

We ere being reading detectives today. We used our magnifying glasses to hunt for words with the ‘ch’ sound.

We have been learning about all the numbers up to 50. We know which ones come before, after and between each other.

We practised our throwing and catching skills in the gym as well as learning how to dodge and mark each other. We played ‘Piggy In The Middle’.

We were learning about the odd and even numbers up to 20 today.
