Sounds

This week’s sound is ‘sh’ (shop, wish etc). Practise reading the ‘sh’ words stuck at the back of your homework jotter. Can you find any of these words in a reading or story book?

Challenge – how many more ‘sh’ words can you make? Write them in your jotter. Choose some words and write a sentence with them.

Reading

Practise your book every night.

Practise reading the list of words in your jotter that are highlighted in blue or in your word wallet. Can you find these words in a storybook you are reading?

Write each word three times in waterfall writing.

Maths

We are learning about ‘odd’ and ‘even’ numbers up to 20. Practise saying the odd/even numbers aloud. Write them going up to 20 in your jotter.

Challenge – Can you write them going down from 20 to 0?

Complete the number square worksheet filling out the missing numbers. Colour the odd numbers up to 20 red and the even numbers blue.

Challenge Can you continue colouring the odd/even numbers up to 100? Do you see a pattern?

We had a visit from the RSSPCA to tell us about the great work they do to rescue animals.  Alex told us all about his job and showed us a video of some animals that had been rescued. Then we got to ask any questions.

Spelling

Write each word 3 times in small and then capital letters remembering to use the 5 rules of spelling (LOOK, SAY, COVER, WRITE, CHECK).

Reading

Read and discuss your book each night. Can you spot any spelling words? Can you see any common reading words? (the words inside the ‘word wall’). Can you find any 3 or 4 letter blend words?

Practise all reading words highlighted in yellow or in your word wallet.

Maths

We will be learning about the number names up to 10 (one, two, three etc.) Complete the worksheet and stick it in your jotter. We will also be learning about the order names to 10 (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc). Draw a picture of a race and label who is 1st,2nd, 3rd etc all the way up to 10th place. We are learning about counting in tens. Here is an example of what we have been doing.

Try drawing some numbers as tens and writing the number underneath.

Try some sums like the one in this picture.

 

Here is another example of what we have been learning in class;

Can you pick a number between 11 and 20 and draw the tens and units to match? Write the sum to match too. (eg 10 + 4 = 14)

Design your costume for Hallowe’en. Draw it and write the name of your costume underneath it.
