Good morning boys and girls, I hope you have had a good weekend and are ready for for learning. Here are your tasks for today:

Number – Greater/ Less Than

Warm Up

Numbers that are ‘greater than‘ means they are bigger.
Numbers that are ‘less than‘ means they are smaller.

This poster shows we can use a special symbol instead of writing the words ‘greater than’ or ‘less than’ as well as the ‘equals’ sign.

Watch these clips about numbers that are greater or less than one another and how to use these special symbols:

Main Task

Copy these number statements into your jotter to say if the numbers are greater or smaller than one another.

Challenge

Try making up your own number statements to say whether numbers are greater or smaller than each other.

Extra Challenge

‘Greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols can be used in sums too. Watch this clip about comparing adding sums to see which is greater or smaller than one another:

Literacy -Spelling

This week’s spelling words are:

have, your, by, only.

Use a dice if you have one and play this game to help spell your words. If you don’t have a dice practise writing each word in all the different ways.

 

Challenge

Write a silly story using all your words. Read it to a grown up.

Fun Finisher

Test your spelling skills with this game. Choose ‘Year 1’ (that’s the same as Primary 2) and then select ‘Tricky Words’.
