Maths – Time

This term we will be learning about different aspects of time – we are now moving on to identifying the time in hours and half hours on analogue and 12 hour digital clocks.

Time at home- Find some different places at home that show dates (e.g. TV guides, computer, mobile phone, computer etc.) and record these in your jotter by writing and drawing pictures. Challenge -why do the publications or time pieces show the date?

How long does it take? – Children think of things they do at home which they estimate will take about a second, a minute or an hour. Make up a table and record ideas under the different headings:

Second     Minute    Hour

Interdisciplinary Learning

There will be different ideas for each homework blog

To link in with the Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, why not…….

  • Choose a sport, find out about it and write a factfile.
  • Find out about a famous Olympian – write a summary about them and illustrate your work.
  • If you want to work on your own Olympic topic then feel free – show us what you come up with and bring it into school.
