Holy Cross Primary

Hello from Primary 1

A short but busy week in Primary 1. We have been practising our songs for our Nativity and we can’t wait for you all to come and see us on the 10th December.

In Maths we have been learning some new vocabulary related to addition and have been making up our own stories about adding on 1. Next week we will explore what happens when we add zero. In beyond number we have been talking about pattern and have been spotting patterns in our environment. We were exploring and making our own patterns through our play activities.

In Literacy we have been learning the letter ‘l’ and we can now say the sound it makes, form it correctly and say some words which start with ‘l’. We have also been exploring  _ad words and made some on our magnetic boards. For our writing lesson we were learning a new genre of persuasive writing and made a poster persuading people to come to our Christmas Fayre. Next week we will write letters to Santa to persuade him to bring us something nice.

In Health and Well-being we were talking about healthy eating and had a look at the 5 main food groups. In PE we enjoyed our Cosmic Kids yoga session.

We have finished our hedgehogs and took them to Primary 5 to show them off since they helped us to make our dough. They were very impressed!

Well done to our star pupil, Brigitte!

Next Friday we will have a special treat to kick off the Christmas season at school – a pantomime! We can’t wait!

We have been busy making our Christmas crafts for the Christmas Fayre and are looking forward to seeing you all there.
